Company Description

Samudra Oceans Limited is a London-based ocean-tech startup backed by the European Space Agency and Innovate UK, building the intelligence layer for the blue economy. They combine autonomous marine sensors with satellite data via their NIRA platform to provide real-time operational insights for ports, offshore energy, and coastal infrastructure.

Job Description

As a Geospatial AI Engineer at Samudra Oceans Limited, you will build ML functions fusing satellite remote sensing data with in-situ sensor measurements. You'll own the geospatial AI pipeline end-to-end, creating analytics that transform 50TB+ of proprietary data into actionable intelligence for global customers across the maritime and energy sectors.

Location

London, UK

Why this role is remarkable

  • Work with a unique 50TB+ proprietary ocean dataset that is impossible to replicate, providing a distinct competitive advantage in the blue economy.
  • Join a high-impact climate tech startup that has won prestigious awards including the EarthShot Prize and the Wilkes Climate Prize.
  • Directly influence the intelligence layer of ocean monitoring, moving beyond outdated research vessels to real-time, AI-driven compliance and operational insights.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What You Will Do

  • Fuse satellite remote sensing data with ground-truth sensor measurements to benchmark and validate ocean parameters on the NIRA dashboard platform.
  • Build and deploy automated anomaly detection and geospatial analytics tools into a production environment, moving models from notebooks to live features.
  • Own the end-to-end geospatial AI pipeline, from raw data processing to developing the ML functions that power real-time operational alerts for customers.

The ideal candidate

  • Strong background in satellite remote sensing and geospatial analysis using industry-standard libraries such as GDAL, rasterio, xarray, or Google Earth Engine.
  • Proven experience as a Production ML Engineer, with a track record of shipping models in a commercial product environment using Python.
  • A startup-ready mindset with the ability to work across the full stack and navigate ambiguity while scaling ML capabilities from the ground up.
