Geospatial Engineer

Employer: Searchability
Location: London / Hybrid
Job Type: Permanent

Searchability is recruiting on behalf of an innovative technology business operating within the data intelligence and environmental analytics space.

You will work alongside data scientists, engineering and analysts, ensuring critical datasets are reliable, scalable and readily available for analysis and customer-facing products.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain production pipelines for remote sensing, weather and environmental datasets
  • Analyse satellite, weather and other geospatial and identify valuable new data sources
  • Ensure reliable and timely delivery of large-scale geospatial
  • Promote engineering best practices and provide technical guidance across the business
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary data and analytical teams

Essential Experience

  • Strong commercial experience with Python
  • Experience building and deploying robust production data pipelines
  • Strong geospatial Python experience including tools such as Pandas, Xarray, Rasterio and GeoPandas
  • Workflow orchestration experience with Airflow, Dagster or similar
  • Cloud computing experience, ideally AWS
  • Strong understanding of data engineering best practices, deployment and monitoring
  • Experience with modern GIS tools such as QGIS
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working collaboratively and delivering within short timelines
  • Fluent English

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working with weather forecasting or reanalysis, remote sensing and satellite data such as MODIS, VIIRS or Sentinel-2, and environmental or agricultural production datasets would be highly advantageous.
  • A university degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or a related technical discipline is also required.
