Job Title: Geotechnical Designer – Site Representative

Duration: 12 months’ renewable

Schedule: Full-time (Monday-Friday)

Location: North Wales, Flintshire (On-site)

This opportunity is with a global EPC contractor supporting the energy transition across the full asset lifecycle and next-generation project delivery. The role will provide site-based geotechnical support on a live construction project, with a strong focus on earthworks, piled foundations, shallow foundations, and geotechnical design support during construction. This position offers the chance to play a key technical role in resolving ground-related challenges, supporting construction progress, and helping ensure work aligns with approved design standards.

Required Education

  • Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, or Engineering Geology

  • Strong experience providing site-based geotechnical support on construction projects
  • Experience in earthworks, piles, and shallow foundations
  • Experience supporting piled foundation construction on live projects
  • Experience reviewing and supporting pile installation, trial piling, and pile testing
  • Experience undertaking site inspections and confirming formation and founding conditions for shallow foundations and earthworks

Required Skills

  • Ability to act as the on-site geotechnical design authority and support day-to-day construction activities
  • Ability to provide technical advice on ground conditions, earthworks, piling, and shallow foundations
  • Ability to review and respond to technical queries, contractor RFIs, and unforeseen ground conditions
  • Ability to advise on design changes, mitigation measures, and geotechnical risk during construction
  • Good working knowledge of UK standards including Eurocode 7 and BS 5930
  • Clear communication with contractors and design teams
  • Confident independent working and a pragmatic, construction-focused approach to problem solving

  • Experience of piled retaining wall construction
  • Chartered status
