About the Role

Igne are seeking to appoint a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join the successful and expanding Ground Investigation Division (GI England) based from Chester-le-Street, County Durham. You will be responsible for managing large complex ground investigation projects and have the expertise to write first-class interpretative reports. Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, validate, and log subsurface data, including borehole logs, sampling records, and geophysical survey outputs.
  • Perform geological interpretation of site data to develop factual logs and initial ground models.
  • Contribute to technical reporting, preparing factual geotechnical logs, laboratory data summaries, and interpretative narratives.
  • Maintain project schedules and resource allocations in collaboration with the Geotechnical Co-ordinator.
  • Support tender preparation by providing scope input, cost estimates, and technical write-ups.
  • Monitor specialist equipment usage and report any maintenance or calibration requirements.
  • Oversee and manage ground investigation projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Masters’ degree in a related subject (Geotechnical Engineering, Geology and Environmental Science or related discipline)
  • Previous experience in contract management of ground investigation projects
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and reporting abilities
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Full driving licence (travel is required)
