Geotechnical Engineer/Senior/Associate Role

Location: Harrogate, North Yorkshire. Min. 2+ days per week in office in Harrogate.
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience, plus benefits

Who are we?

We're a new growing consultancy and need a design engineer to be able to help us to deliver high quality geotechnical design for our Clients. We want to find the right fit for our team to continue to grow the business. We’re a small team who enjoy solving engineering problems and working collaboratively. We value honesty, curiosity and ambition.

Technical background:

  • Chartered Engineer or Geologist (or very close) with relevant degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology.
  • At least four years' experience in a UK geotechnical design office.
  • Strong understanding of UK practice and Eurocodes.
  • Experience producing geotechnical calculations and technical report writing.
  • Confidence interpreting ground investigation information.

Design experience of as many of the following (we’re not expecting all):

  • Retaining wall design.
  • Reinforced soil structures.
  • Foundation design.
  • Earthworks.
  • Slope stability analysis.
  • Automation and coding.
  • Using geotechnical software (Oasys suite / Rocscience Slide 2 / WALLAP / PLAXIS or other numerical modelling software).
  • AutoCAD.
  • QGIS or GIS software.

What you'll be doing

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Designing foundations, retaining walls and reinforced soil structures.
  • Working closely with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary external design teams to develop geotechnical solutions.
  • Carrying out slope stability and earthworks assessments.
  • Interpreting ground investigation data and developing ground models.
  • Producing technically sound design reports.
  • Visiting sites.
  • Managing projects.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior engineers as the company grows.
