Position: Geotechnical Site Engineer

Location: Hungerford

Salary: £32,000 - £36,000 DOE + Excellent Benefits

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established geotechnical and geoenvironmental contractor for an experienced Site Engineer to join their growing team based in Hungerford.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Site Engineer with a ground investigation contracting background looking to join a respected business offering long-term career progression, excellent benefits, and a strong pipeline of projects.

This is a fully site-based role, focused on the delivery and supervision of ground investigation works. There are no office-based or report writing responsibilities, making it ideal for candidates who enjoy being out on site and managing investigations from start to finish.

Geotechnical Site Engineer Salary & Benefits

  • £32,000 - £36,000 depending on experience.
  • 24 days annual leave, increasing by one day per completed year of service (up to 29 days).
  • 8 Bank Holidays.
  • 6% contributory pension following successful probation.

  • £15 per night disruption allowance when working away.

Geotechnical Site Engineer Job Overview

  • Supervise and deliver a variety of ground investigation projects across the UK.
  • Organise and oversee site investigation works, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to specification.
  • Liaise with drilling crews, subcontractors, and project teams on site.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Manage site logistics, equipment, and daily operations.
  • Maintain effective communication between site teams and the office.
  • Build and maintain positive client relationships on site.
  • Support project delivery to ensure quality standards and programme requirements are achieved.

Geotechnical Site Engineer Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year' experience within a ground investigation contractor.
  • Previous experience supervising or delivering site investigation works.
  • Good understanding of site investigation techniques including boreholes, trial pits, and in-situ testing.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety procedures on site.
  • Full UK manual driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Earth Science, Geology, Engineering Geology, or Geotechnical-related qualification desirable.
