As part of Bouygues Construction's Public Works division, VSL International participates in the construction of major technical structures and guarantees their structural safety and durability: transport infrastructure (bridges, tunnels), industrial and energy production structures, and commercial buildings.

Project
Sizewell C is at the heart of the UK’s clean energy revolution. This landmark nuclear power station in Suffolk will provide low-carbon electricity for millions of homes and play a vital role in achieving the UK’s net zero targets. Supported by EDF and the UK Government, Sizewell C is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to deliver sustainable energy infrastructure at scale.
We are responsible for a range of specialist ground engineering works, including deep soil mixing, plastic cut-off walls, embankments, load transfer platforms and other specialist foundation activities, all of which form essential enabling works for the main power station.
Role Overview
We are seeking experienced Geotechnical & Specialist Foundation Operators to join the SZC project delivery team. We are recruiting operators across a range of specialist disciplines, including Cutter, CSM, Rope, Grab and Drilling.
The role will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating specialist plant and equipment to deliver complex geotechnical and foundation works in accordance with project specifications, approved methods and health, safety and quality requirements.

Candidates do not need experience across all disciplines. We are interested in operators with strong experience in one or more of the specialist areas.
Main Responsibilities
Specialist Plant Operations
- Safely operate specialist foundation and geotechnical plant and equipment
- Carry out Cutter, CSM, Rope, Grab or Drilling operations depending on experience
- Deliver works in accordance with approved method statements and project requirements
- Monitor equipment performance and report defects or operational issues
- Carry out daily plant checks and support routine maintenance activities
- Maintain productivity while achieving required quality standards
Site & Operational Support
- Work closely with supervisors, engineers and site teams to deliver planned activities
- Follow construction sequences and site instructions
- Support efficient set-up and operation of specialist equipment
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving operational issues
- Maintain accurate operational records and communicate progress to supervisors
- Maintain work areas and equipment to a high standard
Health, Safety & Quality
- Comply with all project HSE requirements and site procedures
- Follow RAMS, lifting plans and approved methods of work
- Identify and report hazards, defects and quality issues
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and environmental awareness
- Support the project’s quality requirements and continuous improvement culture
Candidate Profile
Experience
- Previous experience operating specialist foundation, piling or geotechnical equipment
- Experience in one or more of Cutter, CSM, Rope, Grab or Drilling operations
- Experience working on major civil engineering, infrastructure, foundation or geotechnical projects
- Good understanding of safe plant operation and construction site procedures

Technical Skills
- Relevant experience with specialist foundation equipment
- Understanding of foundation and ground engineering operations
- Ability to interpret and follow method statements and technical instructions
- Experience with bentonite or polymer slurry operations would be advantageous
- Previous experience on diaphragm wall, soil mixing, piling or deep foundation works desirable
Qualifications & Certifications
- Relevant CPCS, NPORS or equivalent operator certification
- Relevant plant/operator tickets
- CSCS where applicable
- Valid right to work in the UK
