- Base Salary of $204,936 -$274,696 (pa)

- Generous leave provisions, including up to four weeks training/education leave and up to five weeks annual leave per annum
Note: Starting base salary will be negotiated within this classification for the successful candidate, depending on experience and expertise
Position Overview
North Canberra Hospital (NCH), formerly Calvary Public Hospital Bruce, and Clare Holland House are now run and operated by Canberra Health Services (CHS). This is a significant milestone as the ACT Government moves towards delivering a new billion-dollar hospital on Canberra's Northside.
The new Northside Hospital will be built on the existing Calvary Hospital campus in Bruce. It will be a modern, state-of-the-art hospital for patients, visitors and its workforce and will provide more beds and increased services.

The department of Geriatric Medicine at NCH promotes healthy aging through the care of older adults in both inpatient and ambulatory settings.
The NCH Geriatric Medicine service was recently established in July 2026. The department provides opportunities for further developing leadership skills and providing your unique contribution to service expansion with care being provided in the following areas:
- Acute inpatient care through a newly established 26 bed ward from February 2027
- Subacute Care in the 10 bed Non-Acute Transitional Unit (NATU)
- Consultation liaison service to the medical, surgical, gynaecology wards and Older Persons Mental Health service
- Geriatric medicine outpatient clinics
- Geriatric Rapid Acute Care Evaluation (GRACE) outreach service to residential ages care homes.
In addition to providing health care to older adults in Canberra and surrounding regions, the department is committed to the education of both Advanced Trainees (ATs) and Basic Physician Trainees (BPTs).
This position will report to the Unit Director of Geriatric Medicine and is expected to work across all of the services provided.
Consultants contribute to education, training quality improvements and research, for the Australian National University School of Medicine and Psychology medical students, junior medical officer training program, basic physician trainees and advanced trainees.
The position holder is expected to operate within the Public Sector Management Act (1994), the ACT Public Service Code of Conduct and the professional requirements specified by the appointee’s Specialist College.
The preferred candidate may be considered for a conjoint position in ANU at an academic level commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The academic position will be held for the duration of the Canberra Health Services employment and will be subject to regular performance reviews. No remuneration is attached to the University position. The employee will be responsible to the University on academic matters and to The Canberra Hospital & Health Services / Canberra Health Services for clinical/ research matters.

- Hold Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
- Meet credentialing requirements and receive an Endorsed scope of clinical practice from the Medical Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC)
- Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
- Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.
