German-Speaking Technology Recruiter (Sourcing & Screening)

Location: UK-based
Market: Germany
Compensation: Competitive

Please note: This is a UK-based role recruiting into the German market. You'll be part of our UK team and will need the right to work in the UK. No relocation to Germany is involved, but every candidate conversation you have will be in German.

The opportunity

We're hiring a German-speaking Technology Recruiter to sit at the front end of one of our most demanding and highest-profile accounts: a leading global management consultancy's advanced analytics and AI practice.

You'll be based with our team in the UK, recruiting exclusively into Germany. That combination is the point of the role; the demand sits in the German market, and we need someone who can operate in it natively rather than through translation.

This is a sourcing and screening specialist role. You won't be cold-calling for new business or owning the client relationship - your job is to find, engage and rigorously qualify the technologists who go on to deliver AI and data transformation work for some of the best-known companies in Europe. If you take pride in the quality of a shortlist rather than the size of a CV pile, this is built for you.

The pipeline is live, the demand is continuous, and the roles are genuinely interesting.

The Client you'll be recruiting for:

You'll build talent pools of mid-to-senior contract technologists across three profiles:

  • Software Engineers (~50%)

    • Production-grade Python; frameworks such as Kedro, Django or Flask; AWS, Azure or Databricks; Docker and Kubernetes; PostgreSQL/MySQL.
    • Engineers who write reviewable code and can hold their own in a client-facing team.
  • Data Scientists (~25%)

    • Python, R or Scala; applied machine learning and statistical modelling; comfort with large, messy datasets; the communication skills to explain a model to a non-technical stakeholder.
  • Data Engineers (~25%)

    • Python, SQL, Java or Scala; Spark and big-data platforms; pipeline design, data quality and MLOps; scaling and productionising data infrastructure.

Seniority: Predominantly mid-to-senior. These contractors work inside client teams with senior technical oversight and leadership from the end client, so you are screening for strong individual delivery and consulting-grade communication - not for people who need to run the programme themselves.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Candidates you source must be open to extensive travel, upto 75%+ of the time for the full duration of the engagement. This is non-negotiable.

Rates vary widely by profile, seniority and country, which gives you real room to work with, and makes accurate expectation-setting part of the job.

What you'll be doing:

  • Sourcing at depth across the German market - LinkedIn Recruiter, XING, GitHub, Stack Overflow, StepStone, referrals, communities and your own network.
  • Passive-first, not job-board-first. Building a German pipeline from a UK desk means outbound quality matters more than reach.
  • Screening rigorously - Technical qualification against the brief, plus the commercial and logistical fit: engagement model, travel tolerance, availability, notice period, rate expectations, language capability and location.
  • Curating shortlists that land - clear, evidenced candidate summaries that a delivery lead or end client can act on without going back to you for basics.
  • Building and maintaining talent pools - so the next requirement is warm rather than cold, and keeping the ATS accurate and current.
  • Managing the candidate experience - keeping people informed, prepared for interview, and engaged through what can be a long process.
  • Advising on the German market - availability, realistic rate benchmarks, competitor activity, notice-period norms and what candidates are actually responding to right now.
  • Working within the compliance framework - engagement models, worker classification and documentation, in partnership with our compliance and legal teams.

What you'll bring

Essential

  • Fluent German (C1+, native or near-native) and fluent English. Non-negotiable. You'll run candidate conversations end to end in German - sourcing messages, screening calls, expectation-setting on rate and travel, and report back to a UK-based team in English.
  • Proven recruitment experience in the German market, ideally contract or freelance staffing within technology. You should already know the market from the inside: where the talent sits, which employers people leave, and how German technologists expect to be approached.
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Working knowledge of the German employment landscape - employment law fundamentals, works councils (Betriebsrat) and co-determination, worker classification and Scheinselbstständigkeit risk, AUG / temporary labour leasing rules, notice periods and standard contractual terms. You don't need to be a lawyer; you do need to know where the trip wires are and when to escalate.
  • Genuine technical literacy. You can hold a credible conversation about the difference between a data engineer and an ML engineer, read a GitHub profile, and tell a real Spark background from a keyword.
  • Evidence of high-volume, high-quality sourcing - search strings, outreach that gets replies, and a track record of submitting candidates who convert.
  • Comfort with GDPR-compliant candidate data handling.
