Overview
Beebe Medical Foundation engages the community in providing philanthropic support to Beebe Health Care in Sussex County, Delaware to ensure that Beebe Healthcare delivers exceptional, compassionate, and accessible care across Sussex County and beyond.
The Gift Officer is responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of major gift prospects to secure major gifts and sustain long-term philanthropic relationships. Reporting to the SVP Chief Philanthropy Officer, the Gift Officer designs and executes cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies that advance Beebe Medical Foundation’s philanthropic goals.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of 125+ major gift prospects/donors (depending on gift capacity), including identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Develop and implement individualized engagement strategies to move prospects through the donor lifecycle toward major commitments.
- Personally secure major gifts through face-to-face and virtual solicitations; prepare compelling proposals and tailored asks.
- Collaborate with members of the Foundation team, the Board of Directors and Board of Ambassadors to build and enhance relationships and create donor-centered cases for support.
- Lead Beebe Medical Foundation’s planned giving initiatives, offering donors opportunities for various planned and estate legacy gifts.
- Work closely with Beebe Healthcare leadership in assigned healthcare service lines to follow up on grateful patient referrals, understand funding needs, and identify prospective donors.
- Research and analyze prospect capacity and philanthropic history; maintain accurate prospect/donor records and pipeline activity in the donor database.
- Coordinate moves management and prepare briefs for leadership and volunteer solicitors; coach or accompany executive/board members on solicitations as needed.
- Create and deliver donor cultivation events, private briefings, site visits, appeals and stewardship activities for healthcare service lines and Beebe Medical Foundation funding priorities.
- Contribute to annual major gift strategy, revenue forecasting, and departmental planning; meet or exceed individual fundraising targets and activity metrics.
- Ensure compliance with gift acceptance policies, donor intent, and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications
Experience Required
- Progressive major gift fundraising experience in a nonprofit, healthcare, higher education, arts, or similar environment.
- Proven track record securing consistent six-figure gifts or larger and meeting revenue goals.
- Known for developing deep and lasting relationships among many different stakeholders
- Experience managing a prospect portfolio and using moves management principles.
- Strong major gift solicitation, relationship-building, and stewardship skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to craft compelling proposals, briefing materials, and stewardship reports.
- Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud) and MS Office Workspace.
- Ability to travel locally and regionally; flexible schedule for evening/weekend donor events.
