Job Overview
The post is comprised of 10 programmed activities (PAs), of which 8 are Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 2 are Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs).
The post is based across St George’s Hospital and Croydon University Hospital, supporting delivery of glaucoma outpatient services across both sites. The proposed job plan is detailed below; however, it may be subject to change in response to service demand and operational priorities.
The Post Holder Will Contribute To a Combination Of
- Face-to-face glaucoma clinics at Croydon & St George’s
- Rapid Access & Urgent Care Clinic session at Croydon & St George’s
- Virtual glaucoma review clinics
- Administrative and SPA activity
Main Duties of the Job
The Croydon University Hospital sessions include dedicated glaucoma follow-up clinics, working alongside multidisciplinary colleagues including consultants, optometrists, and nursing staff. These clinics require a clinician able to work independently, as a significant proportion of patients require clinical decision-making and management planning. One session will be a Rapid-Access clinic involving triaging patients and seeing emergency patients as appropriate.
The St George’s sessions include high-volume follow-up glaucoma clinics and virtual review activity, as well as an Urgent Care acute clinic session.
The post holder will work closely with the glaucoma multidisciplinary team to provide a comprehensive outpatient service to a diverse patient population across Southwest London. The role requires the ability to manage patients autonomously within agreed protocols, with appropriate escalation of complex cases.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
