Network Rail Consulting (NRC) is the international consultancy arm of Network Rail. Network Rail owns, operates and develops Britain’s mainline railway infrastructure.

Role:

The Global Business Development Director leads Network Rail Consulting's International growth plan, including business development, account management, corporate marketing, strategic capture, proposals and business support functions.

Reporting directly to the Global Managing Director and sitting within the Executive team, the role is responsible for delivering sustainable revenue and gross margin growth, strengthening NRC's brand and market presence, improving bid performance and leading geographically dispersed commercial support teams across Australia, Canada, the Middle East and the United States.

Location is flexible within NRC’s current office network in Australia, Canada, the UK and the USA.

Key Accountabilities:

Global Client & Account Management

  • Lead NRC's Key Account Management framework by providing guidance and training to the business development community and guiding and supporting regional leadership teams in developing account plans.
  • Sponsor strategic client engagements and must-win opportunities.

Business Development & Opportunity Capture

  • Own NRC's global sales pipeline and Salesforce discipline.
  • Ensure effective pre-positioning with clients and partners for high-value bids.

Proposal & Bid Excellence

  • Lead NRC's global bid and proposal function.
  • Chair reviews for strategic pursuits and major bids.

Line Management and Professional Leadership

  • Direct line management responsibility for the Global Marketing & Communications team and Global Major Bids Manager in the UK.
  • Professional leadership for Regional Business Development Directors and Proposal and Business Support Specialists in Australia, Canada, the Middle East and the USA.

Corporate Marketing & Communications

  • Lead NRC's global marketing and communications function.
  • Own brand strategy and corporate positioning.
  • Direct thought leadership, social media and industry engagement activities.

Experience Required:

  • Senior leadership experience within consulting, infrastructure, transport or professional services.
  • Proven track record delivering significant revenue growth.
  • Extensive business development and strategic capture experience.
  • Successful leadership of major bids and pursuits.
  • Experience managing corporate marketing and communications functions.
