£70,000–£75,000 + strong benefits package
Peterborough Area | Hybrid – 1–2 days per week
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Technology Category Manager to join the procurement function of a major global technology organisation undergoing significant transformation and investment.
Sitting within a growing procurement team responsible for substantial global spend, you will take ownership of a strategically important portfolio focused primarily on IT hardware, infrastructure and connectivity.
This is a broad and technically complex category, so we are looking for someone who can combine strong commercial procurement expertise with a genuine understanding of the hardware and infrastructure technology landscape.
Role Summary:
You will lead category strategy and sourcing activity across areas including:
- End-user computing, including laptops, devices and associated hardware
- IT infrastructure and hardware
- Networking equipment and connectivity
- Mobile telephony and fibre services
- Audio-visual and conferencing technology
- Hardware installation, engineering, support and maintenance
- Data centres and co-location services
- Associated infrastructure and technical services

You will develop and implement category plans, build a pipeline of strategic sourcing activity and lead end-to-end source-to-contract processes, from market assessment and supplier selection through to negotiation and contracting.
A major part of the role will involve working closely with technically knowledgeable and demanding stakeholders, providing commercial guidance while building strong relationships across the organisation.
You will also manage strategic supplier relationships, identify opportunities to improve value, quality and risk performance, and ensure the supply base continues to support evolving technology requirements.
The wider procurement function is currently undergoing significant transformation, with continued investment in both procurement capability and technology.
Required Experience:
We are looking for an experienced procurement professional with 5+ years' experience within Technology Procurement or Category Management.
Ideally, your background will include significant exposure to areas such as:
- IT hardware
- End-user computing
- Networking and connectivity
- Telecoms
- Infrastructure
- Data centres / co-location
- Audio-visual technology

A broader technology procurement background can also be considered, including candidates with experience across software or technology services, provided you can demonstrate strong commercial capability and the ability to quickly understand technically complex categories.
You will also need to demonstrate:
- Strong category management and strategic sourcing experience
- A track record of leading complex commercial negotiations
- Experience developing and implementing category strategies
- Strong supplier and contract management capability
- Confidence working with senior and technically demanding stakeholders
- The ability to operate effectively within a fast-moving and evolving environment
Package & Benefits
- £70,000–£75,000 base salary
