Please note: This opportunity is intended for senior fundraising leaders with a proven track record of personally securing multiple six and seven-figure grants or donations. However, if you have substantial fundraising experience but are not yet operating at Chief Advancement Officer level, we would still encourage you to apply, as exceptional candidates may also be considered for other senior opportunities within our growing Advancement team.

Project Yananai is seeking an exceptional Chief Advancement Officer to join our Executive Leadership Team and build a world-class global Advancement function. This is a rare opportunity to shape the fundraising strategy of an ambitious international charity and secure the transformational funding that will help reduce poverty, expand access to education and skills, strengthen humanitarian response, and create sustainable opportunities for communities across the United Kingdom, India, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will play a defining role in shaping the future of Project Yananai by building the strategic partnerships, fundraising capability, and sustainable income needed to maximize our international impact.
This role is ideally suited to an entrepreneurial fundraising leader who thrives on creating opportunities, building high-performing teams, and securing transformational funding.

The Opportunity
This is far more than a traditional fundraising leadership role. You won't be inheriting someone else's fundraising department—you'll be building one.
As Chief Advancement Officer, you will design and lead Project Yananai's global Advancement Strategy, bringing together fundraising, strategic partnerships, and communications into one integrated function that supports the organization's long-term growth.
Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Board of Trustees, and Executive Leadership Team, you will personally cultivate major donor relationships, develop high-value funding opportunities, and establish strategic partnerships that create sustainable long-term income. You will also recruit, develop, and inspire a high-performing Advancement team capable of securing transformational funding from institutional donors, trusts and foundations, corporations, major philanthropists, and strategic partners worldwide.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver Project Yananai's global Advancement Strategy.
- Personally identify, cultivate, and secure multiple six and seven-figure funding opportunities.
- Build and lead a high-performing Advancement function encompassing fundraising, strategic partnerships, and communications.
- Develop strategic relationships with trusts and foundations, institutional donors, corporate partners, philanthropists, and major supporters.
- Lead the development of compelling grant applications, funding proposals, and strategic partnership opportunities.
- Build and manage a sustainable pipeline of high-value funding opportunities.
- Diversify income streams to strengthen long-term organizational sustainability.
- Develop innovative fundraising initiatives and strategic partnerships that maximize organizational growth.
- Represent Project Yananai with senior external stakeholders, donors, and funding organizations.
- Work collaboratively with the Executive Leadership Team to align fundraising with organizational strategy and impact.
- Establish fundraising governance, performance reporting, and best practice across the organization.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing Advancement team that delivers exceptional results.
About You
We're looking for an exceptional fundraising leader who combines strategic vision with an outstanding track record of personally securing transformational funding.
You will be able to demonstrate:
- A proven track record of personally securing multiple six and seven-figure grants or donations from trusts and foundations, institutional donors, corporate partners, or major philanthropists.
- Significant senior leadership experience in fundraising, advancement, or resource mobilization.
- Experience developing and implementing successful fundraising strategies that have generated sustainable organizational growth.
- Strong relationships across trusts and foundations, institutional donors, corporate partners, and philanthropic networks.
- Experience building, mentoring, and leading high-performing fundraising teams.
- Outstanding stakeholder engagement, influencing, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent written communication skills with extensive experience preparing successful high-value funding proposals.
- Strategic thinking combined with a proactive, hands-on approach to securing major funding.
- A passion for creating lasting social impact through sustainable fundraising.
