Global Clinical Operations FSP Line Manager (Contract Consulting Engagement)
Location: United Kingdom (Remote)
Contract Duration: Initial term through December 2027, with potential for extension or permanent conversion

A global biopharmaceutical company is seeking an experienced Clinical Operations FSP Line Manager to provide leadership and oversight to a growing Study Management team supporting international clinical development programs.
This is an opportunity to move beyond traditional study delivery and play a key role in leading people, optimizing operations, and shaping the future of a highly visible Clinical Operations function.
The Opportunity
As the Clinical Operations FSP Line Manager, you will oversee a team of approximately 15-20 FSP resources located across Canada and the UK, supporting global Oncology and Neurology clinical trials. The team includes:
- Clinical Trial Managers
- Clinical Trial Assistants
- Clinical Trial Administrators
You will serve as the primary line manager for these resources, ensuring effective workload management, performance oversight, employee development, and operational excellence across the function.
This role offers the chance to work directly within a sponsor environment and contribute to key strategic initiatives designed to enhance clinical operations, streamline processes, and support future ways of working.

Key Responsibilities
People Leadership & Resource Management
- Provide direct line management for Clinical Operations FSP resources across multiple countries
- Conduct regular one-to-one meetings and provide ongoing coaching and development
- Monitor workload allocation, team capacity, and performance against established objectives
- Support onboarding, training, and integration of new team members
- Act as an escalation point for operational issues and team challenges
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture
Clinical Operations & Stakeholder Management
- Partner with internal stakeholders and external service providers to ensure successful study execution
- Support delivery of Oncology and Neurology development programs
- Monitor key operational metrics and identify opportunities for improvement
- Ensure team compliance with training requirements, SOPs, systems, and processes
Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Identify process gaps and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Support the development and implementation of SOPs, tools, dashboards, and operational resources
- Contribute to change management and transformation initiatives
- Champion adoption of innovative technologies, including AI-enabled ways of working
- Partner with leadership to improve operational effectiveness and scalability

Required Experience
- Minimum 8 years of Clinical Operations experience
- Minimum 3 years of direct people management experience
- Strong understanding of the Functional Service Provider (FSP) model
- Experience managing remote and geographically distributed teams
- Working knowledge of clinical trial operations across Phases I-IV
- Thorough understanding of ICH-GCP and global regulatory requirements
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills
- Experience collaborating with CROs, suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders
- Demonstrated success driving process improvement and operational excellence initiatives
