We're BIG on small
About the role:
At Malvern Panalytical, we are looking for a Global Commercial SBS Leader to embed the Spectris Business System (SBS) across our commercial organisation, including Sales & Applications, Marketing, and Service.
SBS has delivered significant success in operational environments where work is highly visible. The next stage of our journey is bringing the same structure, discipline, and continuous improvement mindset into commercial value streams to enhance pipeline quality, pricing performance, launch execution, service delivery, and customer outcomes.
Reporting to the Global VP of Sales & Applications, you will work closely with commercial leaders to deploy SBS across the organisation in line with an agreed maturity roadmap. This is a highly hands-on role where you will facilitate Kaizen events, coach leaders, and help teams build sustainable improvement capabilities. Success will be measured by the extent to which commercial leaders and teams fully embrace and own the system.
The role is remote based within Europe and requires approximately 30–50% international travel.
What you'll be doing:
- Drive measurable improvements across commercial Core Value Drivers, including order intake, funnel conversion, win rate, pricing effectiveness, quote turnaround, service delivery, and customer retention
- Facilitate Kaizen events and continuous improvement initiatives that deliver tangible business value
- Own commercial impact tracking, working closely with Finance and Sales Operations to validate baselines and quantify realised benefits
- Develop and manage the commercial SBS deployment roadmap, including pilots, scaling plans, milestones, and deliverables
- Apply SBS methodologies including Daily Management, Standard Work, Visual Management, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), A3 problem solving, and PDCA
- Lead governance activities covering maturity progression, capability development, improvement pipelines, and value creation
- Build organisational capability through training, coaching, mentoring, and SBS Practitioner development programmes
- Develop and support a network of commercial SBS champions, subject matter experts, and future improvement leaders
- Partner with CRM and data owners to ensure improvement decisions are driven by reliable data and insights
- Coach commercial leaders on leader standard work and continuous improvement practices within customer-facing environments
- Embed SBS into day-to-day commercial routines, ensuring ownership sits within the business rather than a specialist function
- Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Digital, Product Management, and the wider Spectris SBS community to share best practice and improve cross-functional performance
- Support the ongoing evolution of commercial excellence methodologies including Funnel & Pipeline Management, Pricing Excellence, Product Launch Excellence, and Value Selling

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
