Global Communications Lead
Salary
- UK: £61,645 per annum
- Sweden: SEK 49,000–60,000 per annum
Location
- London, UK or Stockholm, Sweden
Working Arrangement
- UK-based roles are hybrid, with a minimum of 40% of working time spent face-to-face, including office-based working, external meetings or travel
Contract
- 12-month fixed-term contract
Hours
- 35 hours per week, full-time

Overview
WaterAid is looking for a Global Communications Lead to develop and deliver a global communications plan supporting fundraising growth, audience engagement and brand visibility across its international federation.
Working across communications, fundraising, advocacy, policy and programme teams, you will connect colleagues across multiple countries and markets, strengthen global alignment and turn communications strategy into clear, actionable plans.
This role may be based in London or Stockholm, subject to eligibility to work in the relevant country.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of an integrated global communications plan supporting fundraising growth, audience engagement and brand visibility.
- Develop and maintain a rolling 12-month communications opportunities calendar covering campaigns, fundraising moments and media opportunities.
- Create shared communications assets, toolkits, narratives and planning resources for use across international markets.
- Coordinate communications activity across teams and countries, improving information flow between relevant global forums.
- Work closely with communications, fundraising, advocacy, policy and programme colleagues to strengthen alignment and delivery.
- Use data, performance metrics and trend analysis to inform communications activity and continuous improvement.
- Lead multiple workstreams, deadlines and dependencies within a complex international environment.
- Champion WaterAid’s commitment to equity, inclusion and safeguarding.

Requirements
- Demonstrable global communications experience within the not-for-profit sector.
- Experience aligning stakeholders across different cultures, locations and backgrounds.
- Experience developing integrated global communications strategies and translating them into deliverable plans with monitoring and reporting.
- Strong insight-led decision-making skills, using data, performance metrics and trend analysis.
- Excellent planning, prioritisation and project leadership skills across multiple workstreams and deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively within a matrix or similarly complex environment.

- Ability to flex working hours to accommodate different time zones.
- Experience working on global marketing.
- Understanding of emerging AI tools and their application in communications.
