  • Lead the Global Medical Business Development team and provide business development support, coordination, and enablement to country, Delivering Office (DO) and Hub sales teams, without direct or indirect line management responsibility for those teams.
  • Translate market, client, competitor, and regulatory insights into scalable service propositions, go-to-market priorities, and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Act as the bridge between global business development, country sales, marketing, technical, regulatory, and operational teams to support effective local execution and sustainable growth.

Defined Responsibilities, Authorities, and Accountabilities

The role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to the following:

  • Define and maintain the global business development roadmap for all Medical schemes, aligned with the Medical Devices strategy and growth priorities.
  • Lead the Global Medical Business Development strategy and coordinate business development initiatives across countries, DOs, and Hubs.
  • Build a structured view of market trends, client needs, competitor activity, regulatory developments, and pricing dynamics to identify and prioritize growth opportunities.

  • Identify and develop opportunities in emerging markets, new customer segments, strategic partnerships, and cross-SGS collaboration.
  • Shape clear value propositions, positioning, pricing principles, and go-to-market toolkits in collaboration with Marketing, Technical, Regulatory, Operations, and Finance.
  • Support country, DO, and Hub sales teams in translating global priorities into local business development plans, customer ownership, pipeline conversion, and delivery of sales targets.
  • Animate the international Medical sales and business development community through regular forums, best-practice sharing, targeted training, opportunity reviews, and reusable commercial tools.
  • Coordinate support for strategic, complex, or multi-country opportunities, connecting local sales teams with the relevant technical, regulatory, pricing, and operational expertise; participate selectively in priority client engagements where global support adds value.
  • Facilitate transparent sharing of qualified opportunities and market intelligence across the network and promote consistent use of relevant CRM and reporting platforms.
  • Represent SGS in selected external forums, conferences, and industry events to strengthen market insight, partnerships, and brand visibility.
  • Ensure business development initiatives balance growth potential with regulatory, impartiality, integrity, capacity, and delivery requirements.
  • Provide market and demand insight to support capacity modelling, subcontractor strategy, and long-term workforce planning with Operations and Delivery.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
