Ready to shape enterprise cyber protection platforms across cloud endpoints and identity?

Why HSBC

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world. Guided by our purpose of opening up a world of opportunity, our ambition is to become the world’s most trusted bank globally, putting customers at the heart of everything we do.

The Role

As Global Head of Cyber Protection Platform Engineering, you’ll set technical direction and oversee delivery for a portfolio of shared enterprise security platforms that protect HSBC globally. The role spans platform strategy, architecture, roadmap, engineering, operations and resilience across cloud, containers, endpoints, identity, attack surface and AI-enablement. You’ll work across Cybersecurity, Technology partners, Enterprise Architecture and senior stakeholders to align technical vision and prioritise outcomes. Success means scalable services that empower control and capability owners, clear service levels with transparent performance and platform capabilities embedded consistently across HSBC. You’ll also influence third-party engineering backlogs and ensure contractual commitments translate into measurable value. This is a senior global remit in a regulated environment where customer experience and cyber outcomes are closely linked.

What you'll be doing

  • Set platform strategy and technical direction for enterprise cyber protection platforms and services
  • Oversee roadmap delivery, benefit realisation and architecture across a shared platform portfolio
  • Establish engineering standards, governance, service management, data integration and automation practices
  • Embed platform capabilities across HSBC in partnership with technology teams and delivery partners
  • Define transparent service levels and create visibility of platform performance and reliability
  • Partner with Cybersecurity, Principal Engineers, Enterprise Architecture and control owners to align design decisions and prioritise backlogs
  • Influence third-party platform engineering backlogs and hold suppliers to contractual commitments
  • Manage a global team of engineers and SMEs across platform design, build and run

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
