We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Global Head of Finance GPS. Ready to modernise executive finance insight across Global Payments Solutions?

The Role

Head of Finance - Global Payments Solutions (GPS) shapes how GPS understands performance and makes decisions through high-quality Executive MI, strategic analysis and a strong planning, forecasting and stress testing cadence. Based in London this role covers global activities and partners closely with senior stakeholders including the GPS CEO and the CIB, UK and HK CFOs. You’ll oversee delivery across business-as-usual cycles while moving the function forward through process redesign and improved use of data tools and technology. A key focus is producing timely, insightful reporting and committee papers that stand up to scrutiny and enable clear management challenge. You’ll also provide rapid strategic support on priorities such as investor communications and major outlook submissions. Success looks like a finance output that’s accurate and well-governed, trusted by senior management and steadily more efficient and decision-useful.

What you'll be doing

  • Own delivery of timely, insightful Executive MI for GPS senior forums including well-written papers for senior committees
  • Shape internal financial reporting for the GPS Executive Committee, aligning outputs to evolving business needs
  • Oversee preparation and review of GPS-related external reporting including the HSBC Holdings plc Annual Report and Interim Report and investor presentations with GPS content
  • Direct strategic analysis that strengthens the NII story and supports management decision-making and challenge
  • Deliver the Financial Resources Plan (FRP) and monthly forecasts for GPS, balancing Group targets with realistic stretch for the business
  • Govern stress testing outputs for GPS, ensuring high standards of control, quality and stakeholder communication
  • Build a coordinated offshore support model across regional GPS Business Finance teams and central Group teams
  • Champion digitisation of Finance by improving modelling and data visualisation and redesigning planning, forecasting and stress testing processes

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
