Global Head of Financial Hedging - Full time Perm - £130k + Package - London
We are seeking a senior commodity markets and financial hedging professional to lead commodity price risk management across a significant global spend portfolio.
This is a highly visible role requiring someone with a genuine passion for commodity markets and the intellectual curiosity to understand how markets interact. You will combine commodity trading, derivatives, market research, technical analysis and quantitative modelling to develop informed market views and effective hedging strategies.
The successful individual will be comfortable operating across multiple commodity categories rather than specialising in a single market and will understand how macroeconomic, geopolitical, supply and demand factors influence global commodity pricing.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of commodity price risk management and financial hedging strategies across multiple global commodity markets.
- Monitor global commodity markets and develop informed views on market direction, pricing and emerging risks.
- Utilise futures, options, swaps and structured products to manage commodity price exposure.
- Maintain oversight of trading positions, hedge exposure and associated financial risk.
- Conduct fundamental and technical market analysis, supported by quantitative, structural and econometric modelling.
- Analyse global macroeconomic and geopolitical developments and assess their potential impact across interconnected commodity markets.
- Produce commodity research, forecasts and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
- Work closely with banks, traders and financial counterparties, demonstrating strong credibility within commodity markets.
- Present complex market information and recommendations clearly to senior stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively across Procurement, Treasury, Finance and other business functions.
- Support the continued development of commodity risk management tools, models and systems.
- Share commodity market expertise across the organisation and support the development of knowledge within wider teams.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
