Role Overview

Own one of the firm’s most critical data engines and turn reference data into a measurable advantage for JPMorganChase. You will lead the global operating model and transformation agenda for securities and index data, driving quality, scalability, and strong controls while accelerating automation and AI-enabled capabilities.

As a Global Head of Instrument Reference Data – Executive Director in Securities Services Operations, you will lead the firmwide strategy, operating model, and execution agenda for securities and index reference data. You will run a global team responsible for end-to-end reference data operations and for the product and change agenda of the Global Instrument Master (GIM) platform. Your work will improve data quality, reduce operational risk, and enable front office, risk, operations, and technology partners to deliver better business outcomes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Define and deliver the global vision, roadmap, and target operating model for instrument reference data aligned to measurable business outcomes.
  • Lead a global organization across regions and time zones, setting clear accountability, performance standards, and an inclusive culture.
  • Establish firmwide governance for reference data standards, platform prioritization, and automation/AI use cases, including value and control assessments.
  • Own end-to-end operational delivery for securities and index data across sourcing, lifecycle events, exception management, and downstream distribution.
  • Manage the dedicated support model for the pricing, maintenance, and rebalancing of JPMorganChase published indices.
  • Drive improvements in accuracy, completeness, and timeliness through standardization, workflow optimization, and automation.
  • Implement robust data quality controls, procedures, and evidence to support audits, regulatory expectations, and control testing.
  • Direct issue management, root cause analysis, and remediation plans to reduce repeat defects and operational risk.
  • Act as senior product owner for the Global Instrument Master (GIM) platform, owning roadmap, funding, value case, prioritization, and adoption.
  • Partner with Technology to set reliability and availability targets, service level agreements, capacity plans, and technical debt reduction priorities.
  • Lead end-to-end change delivery (requirements through release and post-implementation monitoring) including user acceptance testing and stakeholder readiness.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
