Global HR Lead

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and strategic HR professional to lead our Global HR function and drive a people-centred agenda across our international operations.

Reporting to the Director of People & Culture, the post holder is the organisation's lead authority on global HR and provides expert HR advice including employment law guidance to senior leaders, line managers, country directors and staff across global operations.

The role operates with a high degree of autonomy, setting personal and team priorities and workload to achieve the department's objectives within the strategic framework.

Working closely with Directors, Heads of Department, Country Directors and senior stakeholders, you will ensure that our people strategies support organisational objectives while fostering a values based culture.

As a member of the People & Culture Senior Leadership Team, you will play a key role in shaping organisational strategy, leading complex HR initiatives and ensuring our global people practices reflect both best practice and our organisational values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert HR leadership and advice to senior leaders across international operations.
  • Lead a team of Global HR professionals while providing functional guidance and support to HR teams across country offices.
  • Oversee complex employee relations matters, organisational change programmes and workforce planning initiatives.
  • Drive succession planning, talent management and retention strategies to strengthen organisational capability.
  • Lead the review and development of global HR policies, ensuring compliance with legislative and sector requirements.
  • Champion performance management, staff wellbeing and leadership development initiatives throughout the organisation.
  • Oversee global HR risk management, due diligence and workforce reporting activities.
  • Promote and embed the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS) people management principles across global operations.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will be a highly credible HR leader with significant experience operating in complex, international environments. You will possess:

  • Degree-level qualification in HR, Business Studies, Management, Social Sciences or a related discipline.
  • CIPD Level 7 qualification with Chartered Membership (MCIPD) or equivalent.
  • Extensive senior-level HR Business Partnering or HR Generalist experience.
  • Substantial experience in the humanitarian and development sector, ideally across multiple country operations
  • Substantial experience managing employee relations in a large international organisation, including complex and senior-level cases.
  • Demonstrable experience leading HR teams and delivering strategic people initiatives.
  • Significant experience managing complex employee relations and organisational change programmes.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at executive and board level.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and self-management capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • A collaborative leadership style and the ability to operate effectively in multicultural environments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.
