About the Role
Job Title
Global IT Configuration Engineer Manager – IT HR Systems Group
As a Global IT Configuration Engineer Manager on BCG’s IT HR Systems Group, you will:
- Serve as a hands-on configuration expert across Workday, with a deep focus on Advanced Compensation.
- Design, build, and maintain salary, bonus, eligibility rules, and cycle frameworks.
- Support configuration across Core HCM, Security, and other modules as needed to ensure cohesive, scalable system design aligned with business strategy.
- Collaborate closely with Global Compensation stakeholders and the Product Team to translate BCG’s compensation strategy into scalable Workday solutions, combining technical configuration and functional expertise.

Key Responsibilities
Core Duties
- Plan & Execute Compensation Configuration
- Design and build intricate variable pay, merit, and bonus systems, including allowances, compensation review statements, and event coordination in Workday.
- Cycle Management
- Own end-to-end execution of Annual Salary Reviews, mass operations, and merit grid setups.
- Business Process Optimization
- Configure Business Process Frameworks (BPF), condition rules, validations, and complex calculated fields.
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with the Product Team and HR/Compensation leaders to translate business needs into scalable, system-wide solutions.
- Testing & Validation
- Perform testing, validate self and peer configurations, and troubleshoot system defects during Workday releases.
- Documentation
- Create clear and comprehensive specification documents for application modifications and new functionality in Workday.
- Data Integrity & Compliance
- Ensure accuracy of compensation data and maintain internal compliance and audit processes.
- Technological Leadership
- Stay updated on functional & development tools, including Workday AI offerings, trends, and future initiatives while acting as an evangelist for improvements.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or information systems required.
- 7+ years of deep, hands-on configuration experience with:
- Workday Advanced Compensation (mandatory).
- Workday Core Compensation (mandatory).
- merit pools, compensation review statements, proration rules, complex scorecards, grade setups, eligibility rules.
- Integration points with Core HCM, Talent modules, and third-party payroll systems.

Certifications
- Certification in Workday (e.g., Workday Pro – Advanced Compensation) is strongly preferred.
Preferable Experience
- Prior Workday Compensation Lead or architect role in end-to-end implementation projects.
- Experience supporting large, global companies with complex enterprise-scale Workday configurations.
- Experience developing and executing comprehensive test plans for high-quality deployments.
- Familiarity with:
- Workday Docs and BIRT (template building and dynamic field visibility).
- Workday Security Configuration.
- Technical troubleshooting skills (debugging, performance issue analysis).
- Ability to manage stakeholders, provide training and support to end-users during compensation cycles, and deliver L3 support with exceptional service.
Who You’ll Collaborate With
The Global IT Configuration Engineer Manager will work alongside:
- Workday Delivery Team, including Compensation Squad and People Portfolio Squads.
- Global Compensation stakeholders on business strategy translation.
- QA Teams for testing software releases and enhancements.
