About the Team

The Global Manufacturing Technology Team, part of Research & Development, develops and qualifies core electronics technologies for use across our automotive products. The team develops technology roadmaps, qualifies assembly materials and interconnection technologies, defines engineering standards, and conducts Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) reliability testing.

Working closely with suppliers, Electronics Hardware Engineering, PCB Design, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) and Manufacturing, the team industrialize new technologies into production and provides technical support to resolve design, manufacturing, and field issues, helping deliver reliable, high-quality products. This is a global role, and the successful candidate will work closely with ZF Division C and electronics teams across ZF to develop and introduce new technologies, share best practices, and support products worldwide.

What you can look forward to as Global Manufacturing Technology Engineer:

  • Develop and implement the Electronics Manufacturing Technology roadmap, aligned with core and customer application programmes
  • Qualify and industrialise electronics assembly and interconnection technologies, including solder paste, conformal coating, underfill, edge bonding, corner bonding and press-fit pins
  • Coordinate qualification testing of new electronics manufacturing technologies before their first use in products
  • Develop and implement technology, process and engineering standards
  • Develop PCB Design for Manufacturing (DFM) guidelines and carry out Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design rule compliance reviews
  • Provide day-to-day technical support to Electronics Hardware Engineering teams and help solve industrialisation issues
  • Act as a technical bridge between Product Engineering and Manufacturing teams at production plants

Your profile as Global Manufacturing Technology Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent industry experience
  • Strong experience in electronics manufacturing, PCBA assembly and industrialisation
  • Good knowledge of electronics assembly and interconnection technologies, such as soldering, conformal coating, underfill, edge bonding and press-fit
  • Experience in technology qualification, process development, reliability testing and engineering standards as well as good understanding of PCB design and DFM principles
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including Hardware Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, PCB Design, Manufacturing and technology suppliers
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and develop practical solutions as well as good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with teams across different functions and locations
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a global R&D environment and work effectively across different time zones
  • Willingness to travel to suppliers, development sites and manufacturing plants when required
