At Smith+Nephew we design and manufacture technology that takes the limits off living.

We are currently looking for a Global Master Planner who will be responsible for planning, ordering and distributing product across the end-to-end global supply chain network for an assigned portfolio of products. They will liaise with demand planning, manufacturing factories, suppliers, regional planning and other internal stakeholders to ensure a single, accurate, global plan is supplied to manufacturing factories, Global Distribution Centres (GDCs) and Local Distribution Centres (LDCs). Products are supplied from either internal Smith+Nephew manufacturing facilities or contract manufacturers. The position will report to the Manager, Global Supply Chain Planning.

What will you be doing?

  • Develop monthly and weekly supply plans for manufacturing facilities, and distribution plans for GDCs and LDCs to meet forecasted demand requirements, while optimizing capacity, inventory, and financial objectives.
  • Review daily and weekly service, backorders, stock coverage and demand reports; sequence un-forecasted and emergency orders; expedite product where needed.
  • Communicate and provide accurate and timely updates on supply constraints and other critical supply chain information.
  • Identify and escalate risks and opportunities to S&OE and SIOP/IBP.
  • Manage and execute agreed product rationing strategy.
  • Prepare supply graphs for the next 18-24 months; identify risks and opportunities for presentation in Supply Reviews.
  • Keep the plan current, monitor performance against the plan, proactively highlight potential service issues.
  • Contribute to excess and obsolete stock reviews with Demand Planning and Finance teams.
  • Monitor supplier performance and work with Procurement, Quality and Manufacturing teams.
  • Review and provide recommendations during the safety and target stocks review process.
  • Participate in core teams to manage new product introductions, discontinuations, and changes.
  • Apply high standards of occupational Health & Safety.
  • Ensure compliance to cGMP, cGDP, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, US FDA 21 CFR Part 820 and other applicable quality standards.

What will you need to be successful?

  • Education: Degree educated preferred, or relevant supply chain qualification or experience.
  • Licenses/Certifications: ASCM CPIM or CSCP or Kinaxis Maestro preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar supply planning role.
  • Skills:
    • Analytical skills to take data sets and translate to data insights
    • Ability to make and articulate fact-based positions and persuade others.
    • Ability to effectively present and communicate information to stakeholders at all levels
    • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks
    • Ability to facilitate and communicate with impact and influence in a global matrix environment
    • Resiliency to persevere when faced with obstacles and challenges
    • Curiosity to learn and grow in role and beyond
