Job Purpose

The Medical Director – Europe & RoW will hold a broad range of responsibilities in a small company setting. This individual will have overall responsibility for European (including UK) medical affairs activities, serve as final signatory, and provide medical input to RoW (ex-USA) outlicensing partners of BED products on a reactive basis. The individual will lead and manage a team, and be expected to manage team growth and budget in accordance with business needs.

Main Responsibilities, Activities, Duties and Tasks

  • Provide strong people leadership, coaching, and mentoring team members to achieve individual, team, and organizational objectives.
  • Medical and scientific oversight for European medical affairs activities, including medical information, Advisory Boards, educational programs, conferences and symposia, and other activities in support of the commercial use of BED products.
  • Medical review and approval of BED and affiliated company European (including UK) promotional and non-promotional materials and activities; oversight of appropriate SOP development.
  • Medical and scientific input, data review, and contributions to publications and communications strategies, in collaboration with US Medical Affairs functions.
  • Key Opinion Leader management, particularly for the referring physician community, outside the USA and focused on Europe.
  • Oversight of regional and international Key Opinion Leader identification and management, including speaker/imaging consultant training.
  • Oversight of European medical information activities.
  • Medical and scientific support to other commercial and business activities of BED in Europe, and, potentially, other ex-US jurisdictions, as mutually agreed.
  • Medical and scientific support to RoW outlicense partners of BED products.
  • Medical oversight and coordination of European Investigator-Initiated Trials (IITs) and Health Economic initiatives.
  • Act as molecular imaging platform subject matter expert to Bracco Corporate Drug Safety and Pharmacoepidemiology (CDSP) for queries raised by CDSP and where required by applicable SOPs.
  • Managerial oversight of the EU Medical Affairs team budget.

Education

  • UK registered physician.

Professional Experience, Knowledge & Technical Skills

  • UK registered physician with ABPI final signatory status.
  • Previous medical affairs experience preferably including cross-functional working at a regional level with affiliates/distributors.
  • Experience working within a UK/European/Nordics/EMEA operation for product commercialization leading to multiple country launches. Experience with diagnostic imaging products and/or radiopharmaceuticals desirable.
  • Solid working knowledge of the ABPI Code of Practice and working awareness of the applicability of the EFPIA code to EU-based promotional and non-promotional activities.
  • Able to travel approximately 25% of the time within the UK, Europe, and to the US/internationally, if required.
