Role Overview
Sperry Marine is a global leader in marine navigation systems, delivering advanced solutions to commercial and naval customers worldwide. Headquartered in the UK, we operate across Europe, the Americas, and Asia, employing almost 400 people in ten countries.
We are seeking an accomplished and commercially astute Global Naval Sales Director to lead our global naval business growth strategy. Reporting as a key commercial leader, you will drive strategic customer engagement, pursue major naval and maritime modernization programmes, and expand our presence across defence, government, and coast guard markets worldwide.
This is a high-profile role requiring a proven leader with deep industry expertise, strong defence-sector relationships, and a track record of securing complex, high-value international contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver the global naval sales strategy to achieve ambitious growth objectives.
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships with naval authorities, defence ministries, shipyards, system integrators, and strategic partners.
- Lead capture and pursuit activities for significant naval acquisition and modernization programmes.
- Drive bookings, revenue, profitability, and pipeline growth across global markets.
- Provide market intelligence and strategic insight to influence business and product development.
- Lead and develop a high-performing international sales team.
- Partner closely with engineering, product, programme management, and bid teams to deliver winning solutions.
- Act as an ambassador for Sperry Marine at industry events and customer engagements worldwide.

About You
You are a strategic sales leader with extensive experience in naval, maritime, defence, or government technology sectors and a demonstrated ability to win major international opportunities.
You Will Bring
- 15+ years' experience in defence, naval, maritime, or government technology sales.
- A strong record of delivering revenue growth and securing complex, multi-million-pound contracts.
- Deep understanding of defence procurement and acquisition processes.
- Experience leading international sales teams and navigating long, complex sales cycles.
- Strong commercial, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- An established network within naval, defence, shipbuilding, or maritime organisations.
An MBA, military or defence background, and experience in international defence contracting would be advantageous.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first 12 months, the Global Naval Sales Director will:
- Establish a robust global pipeline of strategic naval opportunities.
- Strengthen executive relationships with key naval and government customers.
- Deliver measurable growth in bookings and revenue.
- Increase conversion rates and forecasting accuracy.
- Further position Sperry Marine as a trusted partner within the global naval and maritime defence community.
