The team:

Global Operations (GO) teams manage the critical systems and multiple platforms needed to maintain the enterprise's market-leading positions in key segments. By performing vital functions throughout the end-to-end lifecycle of products, services, and client transactions, we help deliver seamless client outcomes while maintaining a strong risk and control environment.

These activities include client onboarding, trade validation, settlement, servicing, reporting, reconciliations, risk management, process improvement and change delivery.

Programme Overview

Our Summer Analyst Programme in Chester is designed to provide you with a unique experience within Global Operations. Opportunities are available in the following teams, with alignment based on your interests, development opportunities, and current business needs:

Global Markets Operations (GMO) – Provides end-to-end operational support for Global Markets sales, trading and underwriting activities across securities, loans, and derivative products. Our teams manage critical activities throughout the trade lifecycle, including trade processing, settlement, reconciliation, collateral management, and client servicing, helping deliver seamless market execution.

Data, Reporting & Operations Management (DROM) – Enables business performance through strategic change delivery, governance, regulatory reporting, and operational excellence initiatives that strengthen controls, improve processes and support transformation across the organisation.

Training and Development

Your training and development is our top priority with extensive formal training offered at the start of the programme in addition to on-the-job training, virtual spotlight sessions, Executive Speaker Series, networking events, and hands-on project work, with mentorship throughout.

Responsibilities:

As a Summer Analyst, you will be aligned to one team based on your interests and current business needs. Your key tasks and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Develop an understanding of client, account and product reference data management processes.
  • Support settlement, clearing and reconciliation activities across a range of products and services.
  • Build knowledge of trade lifecycle processes, including trade validation, maintenance, exception management and reconciliation.
  • Analyse data, identify trends and contribute to business insights, process reviews and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Develop an understanding of risk management, controls, governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Support project delivery, business analysis and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, presentations and updates for business partners and senior stakeholders.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this role in Chester, you must have the right to work in the UK as visa sponsorship is not available.

Candidates are required to be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a completion time frame between September 2027 and July 2028. Completion means that you have completed all final exams, coursework, and have no outstanding requirements for graduation. Please note that we reserve the right to request evidence of this completion date before extending an offer.

  • On track for a minimum 2:2 degree classification (or equivalent)
  • Must be available to join the programme from June 2027 to August 2027

Candidates who perform well during the internship may be offered full time employment to commence in July 2028; some lines of business may also offer the opportunity of a January or April start date. You must be available to join on one of these start dates if offered, unfortunately we are unable to offer deferrals

What We Are Looking For

Essential:

  • Clear motivation for exploring an Operations career within financial services.
  • Evidence of self-learning outside of studies, and efforts to advance technical skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to solve problems and positively challenge existing processes.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to interact with a variety of people.
  • Display evidence of strong teamwork, leadership, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrate integrity and ethics by earning other’s trust and respect through consistent honesty and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is a pre-requisite.
