This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Global Payroll Implementation Specialist (GPIS) based in United Kingdom.
As a Global Payroll Implementation Specialist, you’ll play a key role in bringing new customers onto global payroll solutions accurately, efficiently, and within agreed timelines.
You’ll manage technical payroll implementations from initial requirements gathering through configuration, testing, go-live, and handover to payroll operations.
Working with customers, internal teams, vendors, and payroll stakeholders, you’ll translate complex payroll requirements into reliable operational setups.
You’ll ensure payroll and tax configurations meet applicable statutory requirements while maintaining high standards of data accuracy and confidentiality.
The role combines payroll expertise, technical implementation, project coordination, customer communication, and continuous process improvement.
You’ll also identify opportunities to streamline workflows and use automation to make implementation processes faster and more scalable.
This is an opportunity to contribute to global payroll operations in a fast-paced, international, and largely asynchronous environment.
Accountabilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact for customers during payroll implementation, ensuring their requirements are understood and transitioned accurately into payroll products and services.
- Analyze customer payroll requirements and recommend appropriate implementation approaches based on payroll processes, local requirements, and operational needs.
- Own the end-to-end implementation of new customers, coordinating activities from initial setup through successful go-live and handover to payroll operations.
- Collect, validate, and organize all required customer and employee payroll information for each legal entity involved in the implementation.
- Configure global payroll systems accurately based on customer requirements and applicable local payroll rules.
- Coordinate parallel payroll runs, review results, and perform reconciliations of wage-based taxes and other payroll-related figures.
- Verify payroll and tax configurations against relevant statutory requirements and ensure identified discrepancies are resolved before go-live.
- Coordinate payroll go-live activities and provide a complete, accurate handover to the payroll operations team.
- Communicate clearly and proactively with customers, colleagues, managers, vendors, and other stakeholders throughout the implementation lifecycle.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships by providing timely responses, accurate information, effective follow-up, and a consistently customer-focused experience.
- Provide customers and relevant employees with guidance and training on payroll processes and country-specific payroll requirements.
- Maintain strict confidentiality when handling customer, employee, payroll, and other sensitive information.
- Contribute to the creation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of payroll implementation documentation and processes.
- Participate in user acceptance testing and collaborate with internal teams to identify platform improvements and support solutions through to release.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive activities and continuously improve implementation workflows, efficiency, and scalability.

Requirements
- Several years of experience in global payroll implementation, including a strong understanding of statutory tax regulations and payroll processing requirements.
- Several years of hands-on experience with the technical setup and implementation of global payroll solutions, ideally involving local payroll software.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end global payroll and HR processes, including payroll operations and statutory requirements.
- Experience with accounting reconciliations and the ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies accurately.
- Excellent data management skills, with exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy.
- Proven ability to manage multiple implementation projects and stakeholders simultaneously while maintaining clear priorities and deadlines.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Strong technical aptitude, including confidence with computer systems, data analysis, spreadsheets, and payroll technology.
- Proficiency with Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel.
- Comfortable working in a MacBook Pro environment and adapting quickly to new digital tools and systems.
- Strong customer-service orientation, with the ability to build trusted relationships and communicate complex payroll information clearly.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate effectively across international and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities, and remain effective in a fast-paced, globally distributed environment.
- Comfortable working asynchronously and managing priorities with limited reliance on real-time meetings.
- A continuous-improvement mindset, with an interest in automation and finding smarter, faster ways to complete operational work.
- Familiarity with tools such as Notion, Slack, Zendesk, Monday.com, Salesforce, or comparable platforms is a plus.
- Working knowledge of DACH payroll software is an advantage.
- Previous experience working remotely is beneficial but not required.
