The role acts as a key operational SME between Payroll, HR, HR Platforms, Finance, local country teams and external payroll vendors, ensuring platform issues are resolved, configuration and data requirements are understood, agreed actions are completed, and payroll-related processes operate accurately, compliantly and consistently.
Working closely with HR Platforms, you will also support HRIS-to-payroll data requirements, initially including UKG-to-Deel reporting, new field requirements, data structures and future interfaces or integrations required to provide accurate and sustainable payroll data.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Payroll Platform Operations & Hypercare
- Coordinate post-go-live hypercare for countries transitioning onto Deel and other global payroll platforms.
- Support countries through transition from implementation into stable business-as-usual operations.
- Act as a key operational contact for local HR and Payroll teams using the platform.
Ticket & Vendor Management
- Manage and coordinate payroll-platform support tickets, ensuring issues are appropriately categorised, prioritised and progressed.
- Manage day-to-day queries and escalations with Deel and other payroll vendors.
- Follow vendor defects, configuration changes and outstanding actions through to completion.
Platform Administration & Configuration
- Perform and coordinate ongoing configuration of payroll-related functionality including Time Off, Time Tracking, pay components, workflows, security and employee-related settings.
- Translate approved policy, legislative, compliance and operational requirements into clear system and configuration requirements.
- Support and coordinate platform changes resulting from policy, legislative or operational requirements.
- Validate configuration against documented business requirements prior to deployment.
- Lead or perform testing of configuration changes and retain appropriate evidence and sign-off.
- Maintain strong working knowledge of Deel functionality, configuration, defects, enhancements and roadmap items.
Payroll Governance & Controls
- Perform payroll readiness and operational control checks across employee data, earnings and deductions, GL mappings, leave balances, payroll calendars, approvals and payment readiness.
- Coordinate with Payroll and local teams to investigate and resolve issues identified during payroll processing.
- Support reconciliation and validation activities required to demonstrate payroll accuracy.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
