About Us
Ancient + Brave is a female-founded, mission-driven wellness brand with an award-winning range of collagen, supplements, and functional blends. Rooted in ancient wisdom and validated by science, our simple daily rituals support our community in nurturing whole-body health.
Recognised in The Sunday Times 100 fastest-growing private companies for three consecutive years—most recently placing 7th—and ranked 4th in the Oresa Retail Growth Index 2025, it’s a testament to the quality of what we build, the community we serve, and the discipline with which we operate.
Social and environmental responsibility lies at the heart of our business, woven into every facet of operations. We’re a certified B Corp, 1% for the Planet member, and through the Made By Brave Foundation, we direct 1%+ of all revenue to environmental and social causes. As an equal-opportunity employer, we’re committed to an inclusive and diverse workplace culture, where we are brave, connected and intentional—leading with integrity. Read our JEDI statement.
We operate from beautiful head offices overlooking the River Ouse in Lewes, East Sussex.
The Role
This is a newly created role, a deliberate strategic investment. Ancient + Brave believes a brand as distinctive, science-led, and mission-driven deserves an in-house PR voice.
Health, nutrition, and wellness are among the most reported-on topics globally, and stories in these areas are central to where Ancient + Brave needs to be seen. While the brand has success in product listing PR, it is no longer capitalising on the broader conversations it should absolutely influence.
This role is the first point of PR hire at Ancient + Brave, will define how we enter into global earned media conversations, and will sit between science, brand, and marketing teams.
Your Responsibilities
Own the Global PR Strategy
- Develop and lead an earned media strategy building brand awareness and credibility globally across key markets: UK, Europe (ES, DE), and the US.
- Identify ideal publications, journalists, and platforms where Ancient + Brave must have a consistent and trusted presence.
- Transition the UK press office in-house and manage relationships with global PR agencies in partnership with local market leads.
- Establish, document, and maintain internal press office functions, including systems, processes, and an extensive media contact database.
- Set clear PR objectives and report regularly on coverage, reach, sentiment, and earned media value (EMV).
Drive Science & Brand Storytelling
- Leverage existing scientific studies, especially the BECOME Collagen Study, across all markets.
- Translate complex ingredients and nutrition science into compelling, media-ready narratives.
- Act as a strategic cheerleader for brand assets—our in-house nutrition and innovation experts, positioning them as unique and unrivalled brand assets.
- Work with science and product teams to anticipate emerging research relevant to our portfolio.
- Create strong thought leadership content and help position experts as credible voices in the health and wellness space across international markets.
- Consistently provide newsbeats on launches, partnerships, sustainability milestones, and research to ensure Ancient + Brave remains front of mind for journalists in key categories.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Lead Reactive & Newsjacking PR
- Monitor health, nutrition, science, and wellness news daily, ensuring fast responses when our story intersects with topical conversations.
- Build reactive PR capabilities to develop credible, on-brand comments or expert perspectives within hours when opportunities emerge.
- Identify trends early and position Ancient + Brave as part of organically occurring, not reactive, conversations.
Build & Maintain Media Relationships
- Cultivate long-term, trust-based relationships with journalists, editors, and producers covering health, science, nutrition, lifestyle, business, and sustainability.
- Position Ancient + Brave as a proactive source rather than a reactive brand in pitches.
- Handle media enquiries, interview requests, and fact-checking with speed, accuracy, and authenticity.
Maximise Collaborations
- Work hands-on with limited agency support. Oversee external collaborations or freelancers if used, ensuring alignment with the defined strategy.
- Collaborate with social, content, and influencer teams to ensure PR activity supports and aligns with broader brand campaigns.
- Develop and implement crisis communications as necessary, with the leadership team to safeguard the brand’s reputation.
Who You Are
Required Skills and Experience:
- Significant PR experience in health, wellness, nutrition, or food/drink sectors,—or a closely related consumer industry.
- Strong existing relationships with health, science, and lifestyle journalists and editors, particularly in the UK, with confidence to list day-one contact list.
- A track record of meaningful coverage in targeted publications—volume alone is not sufficient.
- Specialised experience with reactive PR and newsjacking, with proven agility when reacting to a shifting landscape.
- Ability to decode and communicate science—rigorous without being a scientist.
- Experience working across multiple international markets, including UK, Europe (especially ES & DE), and North America.
- Exceptional writing skills, adept at producing punchy press releases and long-form thought leadership pieces within brand guidelines.
- Self-motivated and autonomous, ready to step up immediately and take full ownership of PR initiatives.
- Experience leading PR in fast-paced scalable businesses, comfortable operating in fluid, ambiguous conditions.
- Prioritises credibility—one influential story takes precedence over ten trivial placements.
- Experience building a PR function from scratch, serving as the sole in-house PR voice in a team.
- Deep curiosity about health, science, and nutrition, who genuinely aligns with our mission—where ancient wisdom, modern science, and high quality can make a real difference.
