Position Summary
Group R&T has excellent opportunities for Technical Programme Managers within Composite Fan Systems, Low Emissions Combustion Systems, Turbines Technology Development and Whole Engine Systems. These roles support the growth and development of the Group R&T Technology portfolio for next generation R-R products. The successful candidates will need to have a strong customer and partner management focus, a proven track record of delivery and the ability to operate in a complex environment with conflicting priorities.
This is an exciting time in Group R&T with these roles offering the successful candidates the opportunity to grow within the R&T programmes bringing exciting technology to maturity and market exploitation, with a heavy focus on UltraFan technology development.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Technical Programme Manager, you will support the respective Chiefs of Technology to:
- Deliver research and technology programmes including specific government funded programmes of work.
- Interface with the global Rolls Royce functional teams, academic partners, suppliers and High Value Manufacturing Centres to mature technologies for various engine systems, assemblies and components.
- The roles will have responsibility for managing the end-to-end programme execution, planning and stakeholder management including across organisational boundaries. This will include both technical and financial reporting both internally and to external funding agencies, so experience of programme governance within government funded programme environments would be an advantage.

Responsibilities
- Own and manage budget, plan and risk for either the Composite Fan System, Low Emissions Combustion, Turbine Technology or Whole Engine Systems areas of the R&T portfolio.
- Lead packages of work across the Technology Programmes, including multi-disciplinary TRL development, across the UTC network, Internal and External teams together with partners and suppliers.
- Generate, lead and deliver the key technology programmes to deliver TRL6 validation.
- Support the delivery of key funding projects to enable the Group R&T Funding strategy.
- Adapt the plans and priorities for their area to set the direction for their team with decisions and problem solving guided by policies, procedures, and the plan of their area.
- Deliver the high levels of excellence expected in terms of programme governance and risk management required when integrating multiple technology strands and global teams. This should include identifying continuous improvement and efficiency opportunities.
Who We're Looking For
- Degree level qualification preferable or equivalent industry experience.
- Ideally a member of a professional body or working to achieve appropriate level of qualification.
- Demonstrable experience in project management or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience of leading multi-functional teams in a complex environment.
- Demonstrate and operate with a bountiful mindset, dealing with ambiguity and developing efficient and effective way of working.
- Proven track record of programme delivery, ideally in Aerospace.
