Role Overview
As Global Scientific Lead for Clinical Outcome Assessment (COA) Endpoint Strategy, you will act as the senior authority in IQVIA’s COA Consulting team, providing strategic scientific direction, bridging scientific excellence with actionable client solutions. This role requires extensive expertise in COA measurement science and patient experience research, with a global mandate to shape IQVIA’s scientific vision and advise industry-leading biopharma partners.
Key Responsibilities
1. People & Organizational Leadership
- Serve as strategic leader for COA scientific activities within IQVIA’s consultancy, overseeing excellence across:
- Talent development (direct management, mentorship, capability-building)
- Scientific quality (ensuring consistency, rigor, and innovation in COA/PED research)
- Long-term directional strategy (collaborating with senior leadership)

2. Client Strategy & Scientific Differentiation
- Develop COA and PED strategies for clinical development programs:
- Align primary and key secondary endpoints with scientific rigor
- Bring senior-level expertise to client-facing workshops and strategic discussions
- Differentiate IQVIA’s proposals with translational, authoritative scientific narratives
- Translate emerging regulatory expectations into client recommendations
3. Regulatory-Grade Endpoint Strategy & FDA Engagement
- Advise sponsors on COA endpoints for regulatory submissions and FDA meetings:
- Assert expertise as SME during FDA interactions
- Guide sponsors on evidence frameworks, fit-for-purpose justifications, and strategic context
4. COA Instrument Development Leadership
- Lead research teams in designing and validating new COA instruments:
- Oversee qualitative research for item development, cognitive interviewing, and concept elicitation
- Ensure instruments are pathway-validated, patient-centred, and scientifically robust
5. Internal SME Oversight & Quality
- Scientific governance for internal teams executing COA/PED strategy and development:
- Approve deliverables to ensure quality, alignment with best practices, and scientific rigor
- Mentor and coach COA consultants and scientists to build expertise
6. Business Development & Practice Growth
- Strengthen COA/PED proposals and business teams:
- Lead proposal design, solution architecture, and client presentations
- Contribute to methodological assets, frameworks, and reusable tools to enhance offering differentiation
7. External Scientific Leadership & Visibility
- Establish IQVIA as a thought leader in COA science:
- Publish research, present at conferences, or collaborate with academic/payer networks
- Represent IQVIA at industry advisory boards and healthcare strategy platforms
Essential Requirements
✔ Deep expertise in COA types: PROs, ClinROs, ObsROs, PerfOs, and their alignment with clinical trials in multiple therapeutic areas ✔ Regulatory & model experience in:
- COA endpoint strategy development and FDA interactions
- Supporting multiple therapeutic areas (preference, clinical outcomes, patient-reported evidence) ✔ Hands-on instrument development skills:
- Drafting COA items, response scales, recall periods, and scoring models
- Leading qualitative validation (concept elicitation, cognitive interviewing) ✔ Exceptional people leadership:
- Proven ability to mentor and manage multidisciplinary scientific teams
- Track record of scaling scientific excellence and innovation ✔ Executive communication skills for:
- Scientific writing (publications, proposals)
- Stakeholder presentations (FDA, sponsor meetings)
- Academic conference or industry engagement

✔ Education:
- Advanced degree (PhD, MD, PharmD, DrPH, MSc) in a relevant clinical research, biostatistics, health outcomes, or quantitative psychology field
- Strong publication record demonstrating the highest credibility in COA/outcomes science
✔ Professional focus:
- Entrepreneurial mindset with passion for building client solutions, not limiting to existing tools
Desirable (Nice to Have)
🔹 Hands-on experience with digital health technologies and patient-centric data collection 🔹 Hands-off regulatory-cantered design of COA and studies (e.g., ISPE/GO regulatory bodies exposure*) 🔹 Exposure to payer/HTA methods in outcomes research and real-world evidence
