What to Expect
Reporting to the Head of Brand Marketing & Communications, this is an exciting opportunity for a proactive, dynamic and creative social media leader to join the Global Brand & Client function at McLaren Automotive.
This role will own McLaren Automotive's global social media strategy, transforming the brand's social presence into a world-class luxury storytelling platform that builds brand desirability, deepens audience engagement and supports commercial growth.
You will define the vision for McLaren's global social ecosystem across all social channels, ensuring every platform has a clear role whilst delivering one consistent brand experience.
Working closely with the wider Brand Marketing and Communications team, Client Insights and regional marketing teams, you will develop channel strategies, lead editorial planning, oversee creative output and champion social-first storytelling that positions McLaren amongst the world's leading luxury brands.
This role will establish a new global social strategy, driving increased brand awareness, follower growth, engagement, qualified lead generation and client advocacy.
What You'll Do
- Develop and own McLaren Automotive's global social media strategy aligned to business, brand and commercial objectives.
- Define the role, audience and content strategy for all social media channels and support regions with in-market channel strategy.
- Own the global editorial calendar, integrating product launches, racing activity, partnerships, retailer campaigns and brand storytelling.
- Champion best-in-class creative and social-first storytelling, continuously evolving formats, video output and platform innovation.
- Develop executive thought leadership strategies, primarily across LinkedIn, supporting senior leaders with content planning and reputation building.
- Partner with the Campaigns Manager and media teams to ensure organic and paid social activity works as one integrated ecosystem, supporting campaign objectives, audience development, traffic, retargeting and qualified lead generation.
- Lead influencer, creator and ambassador strategies globally.
- Develop community management principles that strengthen engagement, advocacy and customer relationships.
- Own social media performance reporting across all global channels, establishing clear KPIs for brand awareness, reach, engagement, audience growth, video performance, traffic and qualified leads; translate data into actionable insights, optimisation plans and regular updates for senior stakeholders.
- Lead social listening and cultural intelligence across markets, using audience conversations, sentiment, competitor activity and emerging cultural behaviours to identify opportunities, inform content and channel strategy, and provide early warning of reputational risks.
- Work with regional teams to provide governance, retailer guidance and localisation support, including adaptable content packages for market requirements and Chinese social platforms that remain culturally relevant and aligned to global brand standards.
- Lead external agencies, contractors, creators and production partners from scoping and briefing through to delivery, managing budgets, timelines, resource planning, quality and supplier performance while ensuring all activity meets McLaren brand standards.
- Maintain organised content libraries, source files, usage rights, music licensing, approvals, embargoes and publishing records, ensuring current and approved assets can be located quickly and all content meets legal and brand requirements.
- Support Media Communications during issues and crisis communications across owned social channels.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
