I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Role Description
This is a part-time unpaid volunteer role requiring approximately 6 hours per week. eMigr8 is at pre-seed stage and is actively tracking its product-led growth and virality metrics to inform what to build and prioritise next. You will support the PLG and virality OKR by building dashboards, tracking funnel metrics, running cohort analysis, and producing weekly growth reports that give the team a clear picture of how the platform is performing.
This role suits data analysts or analytics students who want real startup analytics experience, not just theoretical work.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain dashboards tracking key acquisition, activation, and retention metrics
- Run cohort analyses to identify patterns in user behaviour across the platform
- Track funnel performance from first touch to activation and surface drop-off points
- Produce clear weekly growth reports summarising trends, wins, and areas for investigation
- Support the team in defining and refining the metrics that matter most at this stage
- Work with product and marketing to connect campaign activity to platform performance data
Qualifications
- Studying or working in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related field
- Comfortable with spreadsheets and at least one analytics or BI tool (Looker, Metabase, Google Analytics, or similar)
- Ability to run basic SQL queries or use no-code analytics tools to extract and slice data
- Clear communicator who can turn numbers into narrative in a weekly report
- Structured thinker who can work backwards from a business question to the right metric
