The Team
The Technology Infrastructure Programme offers non-software development roles in Chief Technology organisation (CTO). This organisation meets the needs of Bank of America’s clients and employees by working alongside technology teams to design, implement and support the cutting-edge applications and infrastructure that underpin trading applications, payment systems, mobile applications, and other end-user technology.
Programme Overview
Our 12 month Industrial Placement (IP) Analyst programme is designed to provide you with a unique experience based on your interests, and current business needs. You may work in one of the following teams:
- Hosting, Application & Database Services: Infrastructure capacity planning, Windows/ Unix/ Cloud Operations, Storage and Database Management
- Network Services: Internal/ External Network Management, Network Service Assurance
- Business Operations: Business Management, Financial Management, Project Management
- Datacentre Services and Portfolio Management: Datacentre Projects and Operations, Infrastructure Project Management
- Mainframe Services: Mainframe Engineering and Operations
Training and Development
Your training and development is our top priority with extensive formal training offered at the start of the programme in addition to on-the-job support, educational speaker events and mentorship throughout. You will have the opportunity to participate in industry standard courses and certifications such as Agile, Azure, CCNA, and others.
Responsibilities
You will deploy and support core infrastructure that underpins the daily operations of the entire bank, in one of the following roles:
- Infrastructure Engineer: Support the technology infrastructure that underpins the bank's services, including servers, storage, databases, and data centres. You will work with experienced engineers to help maintain, improve, and support critical systems while gaining exposure to infrastructure projects, upgrades, and operational support activities.
- Cloud Solutions Engineer: Support the delivery of secure and reliable cloud-based solutions across the bank. You will gain exposure to cloud technologies, infrastructure operations, automation, and security, while learning how cloud platforms support business services at scale.
- Network Engineer: Support the bank’s internal and external networks that connect infrastructure systems, applications, and users across the globe. You will gain exposure to network monitoring, troubleshooting, security, and performance management while learning how large-scale enterprise networks are designed and maintained.
- Mainframe Engineer: Help power the technology that keeps the bank running 24/7. You will work with experienced engineers to support and improve large-scale, business-critical systems, gaining hands-on experience with automation, monitoring, reliability, and performance. This role offers the opportunity to solve real-world technical challenges, modernise key platforms, and build skills in a fast-paced engineering environment.
- Service Delivery: Help technology teams deliver projects and keep operations running smoothly. You will work with colleagues across the organisation to support project planning, reporting, stakeholder engagement, budgeting, and business performance activities. This role offers hands-on experience in project management, financial planning, and operational reporting, giving you exposure to how technology change is delivered and how strategic decisions are made.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for this role in Chester, you must have the right to work in the UK as visa sponsorship is not available. Candidates are required to be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a completion time frame between September 2028 and July 2029. Completion means that you have completed all final exams, coursework, and have no outstanding requirements for graduation. Please note that we reserve the right to request evidence of this completion date before extending an offer.
- On track for a minimum 2:1 degree classification (or equivalent)
- Must have a 12 month placement programme built into the academic curriculum and be available to join the programme from June 2027 for 12 months.
We are unable to adjust these dates of this programme and you will need to be available for full-time work for the full 12 months.
Candidates who perform well during the internship may be offered full time employment to commence in July 2029; some lines of business may also offer the opportunity of a January or April start date. You must be available to join on one of these start dates if offered, unfortunately we are unable to offer deferrals.

What We Are Looking For
Essential:
- Show demonstrable evidence of self-learning outside of studies, and efforts to advance technical skills
- Display clear motivation for exploring a Technology career within financial services
- Demonstrate capacity for innovative thinking and strong problem solving
- Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to interact with a variety of people
- Display evidence of strong teamwork, leadership, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Fluency in written and spoken English is a pre-requisite
- Demonstrates integrity and ethics by earning other’s trust and respect through consistent honesty and professionalism in all interactions
Desired:
- A technical qualification e.g. Computer Science
- Background or knowledge in programming / scripting (e.g., Python, XML, JavaScript, Windows PowerShell), basic operating system commands (e.g., Windows / Linux) and databases (e.g. SQL), and analysing datasets (e.g., Excel, SPSS, SAS etc.), Cloud DevOps skills
