Funding Opportunity

Funding of up to £20,000 per project is available through Global Wales’ HEFCW-funded programme, to support academic partnership building activity between Welsh and Ukrainian institutions.
This builds on previous funding provided by Global Wales to support partnerships brought together through a UK-wide twinning scheme with Ukrainian universities. The scheme has been set up to support Ukrainian universities, staff, and students whose day-to-day operations have been disrupted by conflict in Ukraine.
Twinning Scheme Coordination
The twinning scheme is coordinated by Cormack Consultancy Group (CCG) with the support of Universities UK International (UUKi), drawing on each group’s expertise in the needs of Ukrainian institutions and the international outreach activities of UK universities.

Participating Welsh Universities
Welsh universities participating in the scheme to date include:
- Wrexham Glyndŵr University
- Cardiff Metropolitan University
- Bangor University
- Aberystwyth University
- Swansea University
- Cardiff University (also has a second partnership in place through its School of Medicine)
Funding Details
Partnerships supported through this latest round of Global Wales funding will likely, but not exclusively, be those established through the Charles Cormack twinning scheme.
Submission of Expression of Interest
Universities are invited to submit an Expression of Interest to the Global Wales team by Monday 3 April.

Professor Cara Aitchison, Chair of the Welsh Sector Group on Ukraine, said:
