About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Local Resilience Forum Secretariat in Gloucestershire (GLRF).

The Local Resilience Forum is a partnership of emergency responders such as the emergency services, local authorities, environment agency and health partners who work together to ensure that Gloucestershire can effectively prepare for, respond to and recover from major incidents.

We are seeking to appoint an LRF Support Officer post to support the LRF manager and deputy manager in their responsibilities and to facilitate engagement with all partner agencies and central government to ensure Gloucestershire meets its requirements under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.

About You

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in an administrative role with the ability to develop strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and to respond to the demands of shifting priorities and unplanned events. Strong planning and organisational skills will also be required.

We are looking for someone who is self-motivated and able to use initiative to progress work. The post holder will be required to represent GLRF secretariat at multi-agency meetings and deliver occasional presentations. Experience of working with Microsoft Office functions that support the work of the LRF is essential.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
