About the Role
Gloucestershire Music (GM) is seeking highly skilled and passionate instrumental and vocal tutors to join their contracted team. Tutors are responsible for the planning and delivery of Whole Class Ensemble Teaching and paired or individual lessons through the GM Peripatetic Service. Whilst administrative tasks are necessary within the role, the primary focus will be on teaching high-quality lessons in schools across the county, fostering a love for music, and helping young people develop their musical interests.
The position is permanent, part-time, term time only (30 weeks a year), with pay spread over 12 months. The advertised salary is indicative of a full-time post, so a successful candidate would receive the pro rata rate applicable to their timetable. Depending on the candidate's specialism, we will be able to give you a more accurate prediction of salary at the interview stage. The hourly rate is £30.96 - £39.97 (including preparation time and annual leave), paid monthly and travel costs can also be claimed.
About You
Applications are welcome from all instrumental specialisms with particular interest in teachers of brass, guitar, strings, and voice. We are looking for enthusiastic and talented music tutors who are passionate about music education and motivated to work with children to inspire them to start making music and encourage them to continue in a way that suits them.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
