General Manager - A Brand New Standard for Rental Living in Birmingham

Digbeth, Birmingham | Full-time

This is a rare one. A 550-unit build-to-rent development in the heart of Digbeth, Birmingham - is looking for a General Manager to lead it from the front.

Digbeth is having a moment. Creative, gritty, buzzing with independent culture, and now home to a rental scheme that's setting a genuinely new benchmark for what renting in Birmingham can look like. Think best-in-class amenities, a strong sense of community, six commercial units bringing the ground floor to life, and a resident experience built to feel more like a lifestyle than a lease. This isn't a standard PRS block - it's a flagship.

We're looking for someone who wants to put their stamp on it.

The role

You'll take full ownership of the onsite lettings and property management team, running the scheme as if it were your own business. That means:

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About you

You've led teams in build-to-rent, PBSA, hospitality or another purpose-built residential environment for at least 3 years, and you know your way around a budget as well as you know how to motivate a team. You're commercially sharp, hands-on, and genuinely energised by creating a great place to live. You're a strategic thinker but not afraid to get stuck in - someone who can read a P&L in the morning and be chatting to a resident about their day by the afternoon.

Propertymark, IRPM or IOSH qualifications are a bonus, not a dealbreaker. What matters more is the mindset: commercially driven, community-minded, and ready to lead something special.

If you want to be the person who defines what rental living looks like in Birmingham for the next generation - this is it.
