GMI Migration Project Manager
7-Month Contract | Inside IR35 | London (3 Days On-site)
Overview
We are looking for an experienced GMI Migration Project Manager to lead a critical futures and derivatives migration programme. This role requires proven, hands-on experience delivering a GMI migration within a banking or financial services environment. Candidates without previous GMI migration experience will not be considered.
You will be responsible for driving the migration from the legacy GMI platform to a strategic target solution, managing all aspects of planning, testing, cutover, go-live, and operational readiness while ensuring minimal disruption to the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of a large-scale GMI migration programme.
- Manage migration plans, timelines, dependencies, risks, and governance.
- Coordinate stakeholders across Front Office, Operations, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and third-party vendors.
- Oversee data migration, reconciliation, testing, cutover, and go-live activities.
- Drive SIT, UAT, regression testing, and defect resolution.
- Ensure regulatory, operational, and control requirements are met throughout the migration.
- Provide regular reporting and executive updates to senior stakeholders.
- Support post-go-live stabilisation and transition into BAU.

Essential Requirements
- Proven experience leading a GMI migration programme from inception through go-live.
- Previous experience delivering a futures, derivatives, or clearing migration within a Tier 1 Bank.
- Strong knowledge of GMI, including trade processing, clearing, settlement, margining, and post-trade operations.
- Experience managing migration run books, cutover planning, reconciliations, and operational readiness.
- Strong stakeholder management skills across business and technology teams.
- Experience with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders and executives.
- Demonstrated use of AI tools to enhance project delivery and reporting.

Desirable
- Experience with ION XTP.
- Clearing and exchange-traded derivatives (ETD) expertise.
- Experience decommissioning legacy trading or clearing platforms.
- Knowledge of regulatory and operational controls within investment banking environments.
Candidate Profile
This role is best suited to a Project Manager who has successfully delivered a GMI migration before and understands the complexities of futures and derivatives migrations. We are looking for someone who can quickly identify risks, drive delivery, challenge stakeholders, and lead a smooth migration through testing, cutover, and go-live.
