Backend Developer (Go)
Salary: Up to £61,000 per annum
Contract: 12-month FTC, with potential for extension
Location: London - hybrid, 2 days a week on site
Our prestigious client is looking for a Backend Developer to join a growing AI and automation team, building services and integrations across a complex enterprise environment.
Joining a small, collaborative engineering team, you'll develop Go microservices on a modern, cloud-native Azure platform. Your work will connect enterprise systems, automate processes and deliver practical improvements across the organisation.
The role
- Design, build and maintain backend services, primarily in Go, with Python where appropriate.
- Develop REST APIs, webhooks and event-driven integrations connecting internal systems and third-party platforms.
- Contribute across the development lifecycle, from design and testing through to deployment and ongoing support.
- Participate in code reviews, improve reliability and performance, and produce clear technical documentation.
- Containerise and deploy services using Docker and Kubernetes, with support from the wider team.

What We're Looking For
- Strong professional backend development experience, with substantial hands-on Go expertise.
- Experience designing and consuming REST APIs and working with event-driven architectures.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, ideally Azure, alongside Git, CI/CD and GitOps practices.
- A commitment to clean, well-tested code and experience working within Agile teams.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to technical problem-solving.

Experience with Python, Docker, Kubernetes, Grafana or OpenTelemetry would be beneficial. This is a hands-on backend development role; deep AI or LLM expertise isn't required.
