Package Description
This post is for a goalkeeping coach to work on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons for the first two terms of the academic year (September through to March). The successful applicant should be free to start work in September 2026.
It would also be preferable (although not essential) for coaches to attend School matches on Saturdays as appropriate. The sessions would be of two hours duration normally; sometimes split into two one-hour sessions with different age groups.
The sessions will be conducted at the School’s Playing Fields at Vincent Square and normally run from 14:10 to 16:10. The coach will work with the School’s goalkeepers from U14-U18 level (including U17 and U18 girls).
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver a coaching and development program for the School’s U14 to U18 goalkeepers;
- Record, assess and monitor the coaching and training programmes;
- Provide individual feedback and assessment to goalkeepers from the coaching programme;
- Liaise with all appropriate permanent members of staff to ensure that the goalkeeping coaching development programme operates in a holistic, professional and efficient manner in line with the School’s philosophy;
- Provide appropriate coaching and self-help tools in order for goalkeepers to learn the basic skills and techniques that are needed to reach their full playing potential;
- A knowledge of appropriate technique and skill-development practices in order to create a positive learning environment;
- Enthuse and be able to communicate positively with pupils, staff, coaches and parents as appropriate;
- Keep up-to-date with the latest news / research regarding how best to develop young players, and goalkeepers in particular.

The School
Westminster School is an independent day and boarding school for boys aged 13-18 and girls aged 16-18, with a long history, a distinctive ethos, and a unique sense of place in the very heart of London. Pupils achieve exceptional examination results and entrance to some of the top universities in the world. The School’s ethos resides in the enduring values of the liberal tradition reflected in the 1560 Charter of Westminster’s Elizabethan foundation, where it is stated that: ‘the youth which is growing to manhood, as tender shoots in the wood of our state, shall be liberally instructed in good books to the greater honour of the state’. Whilst academic and cultural attainments are highly prized at Westminster, the School is fully committed also to each pupil’s spiritual, moral, emotional and physical development and wellbeing – with a particular emphasis on drawing out individual talent wherever it lies – and to prepare young people for fulfilled private and public lives.
From September 2028, the School will welcome both girls and boys at 13+ entry, offering a Westminster education to all. By 2026, Westminster Under School will have opened its brand new pre-prep for girls and boys at 4+ and girls will have joined boys in Years 3 and 7, at the 7+ and 11+ entry points. By 2030, all year groups at Westminster School and Westminster Under School, from ages four to 18, will be fully co-educational, reflecting the School’s dedication to inclusivity and excellence.
