About the role

We're looking for a Backend Engineer who specialises in Golang to help build and scale the core services that power Hyperlayer's orchestration engine. You'll be working on high-throughput, mission-critical systems that sit at the heart of how our financial institution clients design, launch and manage Smart Accounts — so performance, reliability and correctness really matter.

You'll work closely with product, platform and other engineering teams to design APIs, evolve our service architecture, and ship features that our clients depend on in production. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys writing clean, well-tested Go and cares about the operational health of what they build, not just shipping code.

What you'll do

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the ongoing development of Hyperlayer's flagship platform, delivering the backend services at the heart of our programmable banking product.
  • Design & development
    • Design, build and maintain high-performance backend services and APIs in Go, as part of Hyperlayer's core orchestration platform.
    • Contribute to the architecture of new features and services, balancing pragmatism, scalability and long-term maintainability.
    • Write clean, well-tested, idiomatic Go code, and participate actively in code review to help maintain a high engineering bar.
  • Systems & reliability
    • Work with event-driven and asynchronous patterns (message queues, event streaming) to build resilient, decoupled services.
    • Design and evolve data models and queries against relational databases, with an eye on performance and correctness at scale.
    • Support the operational health of services in production, including monitoring, alerting and incident response for systems you own.
  • Collaboration & delivery
    • Partner with Product and other Engineering teams to translate requirements into well-scoped technical designs.
    • Collaborate with DevOps/Platform on deployment, containerisation and infrastructure for the services you build.
    • Contribute to technical decisions, documentation and best practices across the wider Engineering team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
