Long-term contract opportunity: Golang Engineer

12-Month Contract
Hybrid (3 Days Onsite in London or Bristol)
£400-£475 per day Inside IR35

QSR is supporting a leading UK financial services organisation undergoing a major technology transformation and investing heavily in modern engineering practices, cloud-native platforms, and customer-focused digital experiences. This is an exciting opportunity for a Golang Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team responsible for developing and maintaining scalable, secure microservices that support critical customer-facing platforms. You'll work within an innovative environment focused on delivering robust backend solutions, driving engineering excellence, and contributing to the evolution of modern banking technology.

The Role

As a Golang Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, developing, and supporting secure, cloud-native applications within a microservices architecture. You'll collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, contribute to technical decisions, and help deliver resilient solutions that operate at enterprise scale. This position offers the opportunity to work with modern technologies, Agile delivery teams, and a strong DevOps culture, while tackling complex technical challenges in a highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain secure, scalable Go-based microservices.
  • Develop and support REST APIs used across critical digital platforms.
  • Troubleshoot, optimise and enhance existing services and applications.
  • Deploy and manage containerised applications within Kubernetes environments.
  • Work closely with engineers, architects and product teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Champion best practices across coding standards, testing, CI/CD and Agile development.
  • Contribute to platform reliability, monitoring, performance tuning and operational support.
  • Participate in code reviews and drive continuous improvement across the engineering function.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong commercial experience developing and supporting applications using Go (Golang).
  • Proven experience maintaining and troubleshooting secure microservices.
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, microservices architecture and distributed systems.
  • Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and deployments using Helm.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies and continuous delivery practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within collaborative engineering teams.
  • Experience using source control, code management and modern software engineering practices.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience with Java development.
  • Knowledge of SQL databases and query optimisation.
  • Experience using monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace and Splunk.
  • Exposure to cloud-native environments and DevOps tooling.
