About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established contractor that has been quietly building a strong reputation across utility-scale solar in the UK. They are growing their site teams and need an experienced Lead Electrician who knows how to run things properly on a live PV solar farm, not someone learning on the job. This is a genuinely field-based role. You will be travelling across the UK and spending extended time away from home. Our client covers accommodation where needed, so that side of things is taken care of.
What the Role Actually Involves
- Leading electrical teams on utility-scale PV solar farm projects from the ground up, installation, commissioning, testing, and everything in between.
- Owning the programme on your section, keeping work safe and compliant with CDM and site regulations.
- Running toolbox talks.
- Being the person project managers and client reps come to when they need a reliable answer.
- Responsible for test records, RAs and method statements.
- Supporting the junior members of your team.

This is not a glorified electrician role with a team leader label. You need to have genuinely led site teams before and be comfortable being accountable for the quality and safety of the work.
What They Need from You
The non-negotiable is the Gold Card. If you do not hold a Gold Card NVQ as an electrician, this role is not for you - applications without one will not progress. Beyond that:
- NAPIT or NICEIC qualified or registered
- Solid, demonstrable experience on utility-scale PV solar farm construction and installation
- A track record of managing and leading site teams, not just working within them
- Full UK driving licence
- Genuine flexibility to travel across the UK and stay away when the project requires it
- Strong working knowledge of electrical safety regulations and site compliance
- UK Right to Work

If you also have 18th Edition (BS 7671), BESS experience, a CSCS or ECS Gold Card, or First Aid at Work — that is a bonus. But the Gold Card and solar farm experience are what matter most here.
