I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What Are We Looking For?
We are not looking for a ready-made precious metals expert. Above all, we are looking for someone with the right attitude and motivation to learn.
We hope you have:
- An energetic and positive approach to work
- A proactive attitude and willingness to take initiative
- Accuracy and strong attention to detail
- A genuine interest in learning and developing your skills
- Good organizational skills
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Previous experience is a plus, not a requirement. You do not need previous experience in gold or precious metals appraisal to succeed in this role. However, previous experience with jewelry, precious metals, goldsmithing or other work requiring accuracy and attention to detail is considered an advantage. Familiarity with weighing and testing equipment or different appraisal methods is also beneficial.
Most importantly, we value your motivation, initiative, and willingness to learn.
