Help us grow an ambitious and evolving golf club

St Ives (Hunts) Golf Club is looking for an enthusiastic and commercially minded Business Development Manager to help drive the next stage of our growth.

This is a varied, hands-on commercial role spanning sales, marketing, membership, events, hospitality, corporate golf and partnerships.

We're looking for someone who enjoys meeting people, creating opportunities and turning conversations into long-term customer relationships.

You don't necessarily need to come from golf. You might currently work in business development, sales, account management, hospitality, hotels, events, leisure or a membership organisation and be looking for an opportunity where you can make a genuine impact.

The opportunity

You'll work closely with the General Manager and wider management team to develop new business and maximise the commercial opportunities available across the Club.

Your role will include:

  • Growing membership enquiries, sales and retention.
  • Generating new society, golf day and corporate golf business.
  • Developing weddings, functions, meetings and events.
  • Building relationships with local and regional businesses.
  • Developing sponsorships and commercial partnerships.
  • Managing customers and key accounts to encourage repeat business.
  • Creating and coordinating marketing campaigns across digital, email, social and traditional channels.
  • Developing new packages, promotions and commercial ideas.
  • Building and managing a structured sales pipeline from first enquiry through to conversion and repeat business.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who are we looking for?

We're interested in the person as much as the CV.

You'll be confident, organised, personable and commercially aware, with the energy to go out and create opportunities rather than simply wait for enquiries to arrive.

Previous business development or sales experience would be valuable, but this could also be an excellent first dedicated business-development role for someone who has already demonstrated strong commercial instincts, customer service and relationship-building ability.

Knowledge of golf would be useful, but isn't essential. What matters more is your ability to communicate, build relationships, follow up opportunities and turn great customer experiences into sustainable revenue.

You'll need to be comfortable picking up the phone, meeting prospective customers, attending networking events, showing people around the Club and asking for the business.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone with energy, ideas, commercial curiosity and the enthusiasm to help us grow.

Salary:

  • Basic £30,000-£35,000 - OTE >£50,000
