Ready to take the next step in your golf career?
St Ives (Hunts) Golf Club is looking for an enthusiastic, service-focused Golf Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day delivery of our golfing operation.
This could suit an experienced Golf Operations Manager – but equally, it could be a fantastic first management opportunity for someone already working in a golf club environment who is ready to step up.
You might currently work on a golf reception, in a pro shop, as part of a golf operations team or in another customer-facing golf role. If you understand golfers, enjoy looking after people and have the enthusiasm and confidence to take greater responsibility, we'd like to hear from you.
The role
You'll be at the heart of the Club's golfing operation, leading our front-of-house Golf Operations team and helping us deliver an exceptional experience for members, visitors and guests.
You'll take responsibility for:
- The day-to-day Golf Operations team and standards of service.
- Welcoming and looking after members, visitors, societies and guests.
- The golfing diary, tee sheet and smooth delivery of member and visitor golf.
- Competitions, matches, opens, societies and golf days.
- Working with Club Captains, committees and the greenkeeping team.
- Managing the golf shop, including stock, merchandising and retail performance.
- Training, supporting and motivating the Golf Operations team.
- Finding practical ways to continually improve the golfer experience.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who are we looking for?
You'll need a good understanding of golf and experience working in a golf club or similar golfing environment. You'll be confident dealing with people, organised, enthusiastic and comfortable taking responsibility.
Previous management experience would be an advantage, but it isn't essential. We're equally interested in someone who has demonstrated initiative and leadership in a front-of-house or operational role and is now ready to take their first step into management.
Experience of competitions, golf-management systems, retail or Golf Genius would be useful, but training and support can be provided.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is approachable, proactive and passionate about creating a great experience for golfers.
“It took my CV and asked me questions relevant to understanding what kind of jobs to suggest for me. Suggestions were almost perfect. Jobs were exactly what I’ve been looking for.”
